Can we keep Ronaldo

Premiership Manchester United

Ronaldos form this season for Man U has been exceptional and for my money with drogba the player of the season. After the world cup I had accepted that Ronaldo would leave in the summer for some measly fee, then we kept him and he like Beckham did after 98 has been in the form of his life.

However his contract runs to 2010 which means we have to get him to sign an extension this summer or next otherwise we will probably have to sell him. He has stated in the past he would like to play in Spain and I get the feeling his agent is pushing for a move to Spain too.

The United fans have been great at supporting him and I don't think the jeers bother him particularly but I'm still not sure it will be enough to keep him.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong but I wanted to hear what other people think will happen? I'm personally all for a Keep ronaldo Campaign if it would work but I have a feeling it wouldn't.

Your views please.

He can probably only get
the triple in Man-u and
I think it's by a overwhelming majority off
football world, would bee
greater achievement than
even collecting WC gold
for Portugal ( and that
would bee rather fantastic).

To be honest do Barca really need Ronaldo, i mean they have messi, goofy, deco, iniesta, and xavi not to mention their youth players as well(thanks for cesc)winkeye

So i honestly believe that if any team will get Ronaldo it will be Madrid, they're desperate and want to show their fans that they can compete, question is, will ronaldo want to leave utd to go to a club thats in terminal decline?

I dont want Ronaldo to come to Barca, we have enough stars as it is and I dont think he would want to sit on the bench.

he would absolutely stupid to go to madrid......

best thing is for him to stay at Man u for a few more years, when Barca sell Goofy to milan for 100 mill buy C Ronaldo......

Agree with you, as much as i dislike his antics you want to see the best players playing in your league and ronaldo on current form is amazing, i hope he stays for a couple of seasons before he leaves and to barca and not madrid that club is going down the drain!

Barcelona should sell Ronaldinho NOW and buy C. Ronaldo. One lacks motivation because he was already considered the best player in the world (arguable, but no doubt he has a lot of talent). THe other one wants to reach that status and he is delivering performances that only in England are not unanimously recognized.
Plus, selling Ronaldinho now can be a very good deal, while in 1-2 years he will not be the same player (as he continues partying as he is doing, I see another fat Ronaldo coming).

Well goofy is still only 26 and has a lot to offer barca still, to say that they should get rid of him now is just stupid. On form there is no one better then him in the world.... not even C Ronaldo. This is why I say wait a couple of years. Milan are stupid enough to by a 28/29 year old Goofy for a stupid amount of money.... the C.Ronaldo can be ours..... Immagine it then a C Ronaldo 24, Eto'o 26, Messi 21, Iniesta 23, Xavi 27....... they could rule for years

For Milan to buy a 29 y.o. Ronaldinho for a huge amount of money he has to be playing like he did 1 year ago and not like in the WC, in La Liga now (many goals, but mainly from penalties/free kicks) or in Japan.
And I don't think he will keep his standards in 3 years.
On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo can buy his way out from ManU next year for not so much money (like Lampard this summer), so I see him leaving Manchester United quite soon, or they risk a huge loss. Or he can sign another contract....

I think Christian is at his best with the best team for him. Maybe he can get better but certainly not by changing the team.

Recognition is inevitable. It is coming.
