I'm a very nervous member of the tartan army right now!
The thought of McLeish taking the reigns has nightmare written all over it, please, please David Taylor, do not even consider him.

No-one else wants him, why should Scotland?

"The only other suitable Scots born candidates would not leave their clubs" so are they traitors as well then for not wanting to manage the national side? Smith had said he would stay on and manage the sides next two games the SFA said No.
I would go for Burley for the Scotland job (is who i wanted for the Rangers job)

What's Kenny Dalglish up to these days? Anyone think he'd be worth considering?

Berti, bring back the Vogtser, all Smith did was start winning at the time Berti had from all his previous hard work. He laid the foundations, not Smith. Bring back Berti and qualification will be a doddle.

Alex McLeish is too young and too bad, Tommy Burns would never leave Celtic, Billy Davies is untested, so it looks like Jim Jefferies is the only safe option.

'How many World Cup managers were not born in the country they managed?'

If you mean World Cup /winning/ managers then none. If you just mean teams who got to the World Cup, then Advocaat (Korea) and Scolari (Portugal) spring to mind - the SFA can't afford a coach of that calibre though.

There are plenty of coaches who could do a turn, Jim Jefferies has got the best out of most of the teams he has managed , Craig levein is in a similar mould but perhaps lacks experience overall . Calderwood would be a great pick but probably would not be an SFA yes man. Not sure about Mcleish although he did well for the Well and the Hibees. Souness is in for Wolves at the mo, Dalgleish would probably not return to managment. Remember brown and roxy were not exactly big names at the time but they did a good job for us in the Scotland set up. JUST KEEP THE BOSS SCOTTISH IS ALL I ASK.

I think a Scotsman it has to be. A guy who knows the national game from playing and management experience is a must. He also knows how the fans tick. McLeish is available and willing as far as we can see. Having spent time with Rangers recently has given him international as well as domestic experience at the highest level. There may be others standing by - like Levein for example - but McLeish is free. The SFA should act sooner rather than later. Grab him!

McLeish is a prime candidate and I would not be disappointed.

My 1st choice would be Jim Jeffries.

We need a manager who can install pride and fire into the players.Yes, Walter Smythe did the dirty on us, but look what the players have/can achieve with him in charge
