Where to strenghten?

Liverpool

A lot of rumours have been flying around lately about possible transfer targets, personally I'm getting a little worried that its now the middle of january and nothing has really happened for us yet, apart from the useless 6 month loan signing of an Italian under-21 keeper.

(I'm all for signing youth, but I thought Carson was our youth goalkeeper, along with David Martin, what Liverpool need to do is sign proven premiership quality).

I know Rafa and the board like to keep things close to their chest whenever transfers are concerned but I've a feeling the window will pass and the squad will not be greatly improved upon.

I think we need a goalscorer, none of our forwards are out and out strikers... David Villa is a target, but will Liverpool really see the best of him? I'd prefer to get in Darren Bent, young and English with Premiership experience...

Anyone like to share their views?

some of u people chat so much crap.

1. there is nothing wrong with the manager.he has been a good manager.

2. there is nothing nothing wrong with the goalkeepers. all goalkeepers make mistake.

3. peter crouch is playing his best and he does score.

4. all we need is world class players like henry, ronaldinho, robinho, david villa and torres i can go on and on (which i kno we ain't get them cos we need lots of money for them)

5. if u lot were ture liverpool fans u would not take the piss out off the liverpool team like some of u did like crouch, pennat, riise and the goalkeeper.

i am really really discasted about some of this commets.

can't see u lot playing for anyone as a pro

There is not that much wrong - a previous comment was spot on when it was mentioned that our first choice eleven is pretty good. Unfortunately we have a lot of "squad" players who are average at best and are players which we have paid a lot of money for and are on big wages - making them hard to sell.
Reina is a decent keeper - just needs to toughen up. Dudek had a great 1st season but it has been pretty much downhill ever since - Champions league final excepted. Can't believe that Finnan comes in for stick. He is like Dennis irwin - hardly ever has a bad game - just does a good solid job. Definitely need a left back though. Riise and Aurelio cannot defend. Only a matter of time before Wayne Bridge becomes fed up at Chelsea - if not go for Gareth Bale before Man U get him. Centre of midfield is fine but Gerrard has to play there. Need quality width. Gonzalez needs time to adjust before we judge him. Pennant just isn't good enough but was a [not much]cheaper alternative to Daniel Alves.Birmingham must be laughing with the £6m plus that we paid for him. Bruce has built a team to get them promoted on the back of that sale.
We also need an out and out goalscorer. Kuyt is a great player but spends too much time out wide and dropping deep - great teamwork but I thought we paid £10m for 20 goal a season player. Darren Bent is just a goalscorer and would fit the bill but because he is English we will have to pay silly money.
Is there any one in the Championship worth taking apart from Bale? What about Barnes from Derby? We used to pick up some great players from the lower leagues. Remember Rob Jones. Signed him from Crewe. Made his debut against Man U at Old Trafford and had Giggs in his pocket.
Benitez seems to go for quantity rather than quality in the transfer market and makes too many changes for the team to gel quickly - just look at the starts we have made in the last couple of years. This is our main problem and if the takeover goes ahead I can see another summer of change with many players coming and going. We might start slowly again and be out of the title race before the end of October.

I'm a browsing Arsenal supporter so this is none of my business but wot Dudek did woz not, mistakes, mistakes are little mishaps in a game that maybe let in 1 or 2 goals, Dudek practically gave us 2 late Christmas presents in the 2 cup games, all we had 2 do woz unwrap them. biggrinbiggrin

So ure not in the mood 2 joke ey, thats fine. but you really need a right winger that can cover pennant if he gets injured, pennant is quality and he will improve, as an Arsenal youth player, whenever I saw him he woz great, and played well for Birmingham. U guys r underrating ure strikers, the problem is, because Benitez keeps playing different partnerships, a proper strike partnership, which takes time 2 build, is not happening.

"All liverpool need is Theirry Henry. Put in a bid!!! You never know, he may just have a change of heart."
Yes, Thierry Henry wants 2 go 2 Liverpool, instead of Barcelona, the European champions, with Garcia and Pennant as the wigers instead of Ronaldinho and Messi, with his strike partner being Peter Crouch instead of Eto'o. And I hear the weather and lifestyle in Liverpool is much better than Barcelona's.

how many players did paisley use in his most successful seasons and how many changes did he make which were unforced by injury....rafa makes a joke out of the saying never change a winning team! Gonzalez and Pennant will get better.....the team will take on better shape when Momo is back, I agree Fowler should get more time on the park and that we should try to stick with one strike force, Bellamy must learn to go for the kill quicker always seems to be one touch too many and as with Gonzalez and Pennant the final ball isn't good enough often enough. That guy paletta is too slow, and too stupid tactically to make it at Liverpool. fact is by playing an understrength team, benitez put too much pressure on the subs and seniors to perform for pride and that caused us to lose Luis garcia for the CL, I like Benitez but any more rubbish like that will only confirm he has lost the plot.

i believe benitez knows exactly what he is doing with regards to the new argentinian defender he has on loan. don't forget argentina is a spanish colony. he is trying to build a team on merit

We should of bought Benni McCarthy & off loaded Crouch. That is my main criticism of Benitez. Not this over the top Carling Cup abuse. How many more times do we want to win the Carling Cup.
I think we have a good chance of winning the Champions League and Premiership
if we by another striker. John Carew would be my answer, but we have to off load Croach. OK is not good enough.
