The Real Deal with Beckham and Madrid

David Beckham will leave Real Madrid in the summer, according to the club's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic.
"Beckham will leave us, we will not renew his contract with the club," he told Sky Italia television.

The 31-year-old, whose current deal expires in June, has been linked with a host of clubs from England, Italy, Spain, France and the United States.

Beckham has started just nine times for the Primera Liga side this season under coach Fabio Capello.

The player's spokesman Simon Oliveira said he was surprised by the news after telling this website last week that a new two-year deal had been put on the table.

Oliveira said: "Nobody has said anything to us. As far as we're concerned, the offer is still there and a meeting is due this week."

Beckham is one of six senior players to have been left out of Real's Copa del Rey game with Real Betis on Thursday.

The other 'Galactico' to have been omitted from the 18-man squad is striker Ronaldo, who was also tipped to leave the Bernabeu along with the former England captain by Spanish newspaper AS on Tuesday.

If this is true then I can only really see a realistic move to the states for Becks. He said not long ago that he was not interested in a move to the Premiership as he felt it would on be to a club second to when he was at United. Furthermore, a while back he stated his desire to move to the states and at some point in his career he wanted to play there. However, this may not be possible, as in the US, their is a law in football (or soccer to them), that 1 individual player can not be paid over a certain amount, and I don’t believe Beckham is the type of person who will accept a pay-cut. However, with endorsements bound to be between 50 - 100+ million pounds, I don’t think that this may be seen as a negative move
However, as his family are settled in Spain, may the odds be in favour of him remaining there, but moving to a different club?

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Becks is only 31, and is still a good player. Except for the top 3 (on current performances I think there a cut about Liverpool) he would walk into any premiership team. People seem to have very short memories in forgetting some of his great peformances for England (Greece springs to mind at the top of a long list..)

I'd gladly have him at Villa, any day of the week. I can't believe people are thinking he'd go to a Championship team, it's just not going to happen.

It seem as if his sights are set on the US...

He is the most overated player in the history of football. Real only bought him because of his marketing value. By moving to America he's admitting his career is over. At last!

If he goes to the US its cos Posh fancies Los Angeles and his academies

If he goes to a Milan its cos Becks fancies a trophy from the 1 top league he hasn't played in.

Obviously nobody watches La Liga, because Beckham had a great season, last year. So people saying he's a rubbish has-been, are basing it on his form for England, which is ridiculous. He is still a very good player.

But now his has wasted that talent by moving to the MLS, which its standard is on a par with the championship(probably lower).

Seems to me that Becks has only been in it for the cash since leaving Manure. He has had some half decent proformances for Real but nothing special. Money, money and a greddy wife pushing you along, shame and what a waste of talent, no wonder prem managers buy non UK players.

It is clear that the Pop Tart was influential in this decision and Goldenballs knew he had no future back in England as there was no way Fergie was having him back at Old Trafford. She has driven his career backwards and her own into the ground so the false lifestyle of Hollywood was all that was left.

At first I thought MLS was a good move for him, now I just think he's gutless!

To all you people who thought Beckham should be recalled, this is why he shouldn't. I'm sure he could've signed for a number of premiership clubs, worked really, really hard and put himself right in Steve McClaren's face. The truth is he's not good enough anymore, by going to LA he's conceded that.

Beckham WAS a fine player once but he's more concerned with money and his image. A true professional with his abilty probably could've got back into the England squad but instead he whinged about having 'psycholoical problems' and ditched training to go to Tom Crusis' wedding! I have absolutely no respect for him at all.

I am a football odds compiler that works for bookmakers all over the world, maybe somebody can tell me because major league soccer in the USA is not one om strongest suites,BUT is David Beckham good enough to play for LA Galaxy? These boys are pretty fit athletes and quick that play for these teams.Yes I know David could help a team like Watford if he played for them and its not his fault that Real Madrid lost 7 out of the 9 games he started for them, this season.MAYBE they will change the rules in the USA and he will be able to come on like a goalkicker in the NFL and just take corners and free kicks?

but what about his quality crosses, long passes and general passing game in open play,i think he needs to adapt his game a little more.ryan giggs is a fine example.he's had to adapt his game with losing his pace but is playing some of the finest football of his already impressive career.
