Blackburn's lethal streak in front of goal helped them brush Everton aside in the third round of the FA Cup.

Matt Derbyshire put the visitors ahead from a yard out after keeper Tim Howard parried a Morten Gamst Pedersen strike.

Everton had two penalty appeals waved away before Pedersen struck with a free-kick and Paul Gallagher chested a ball down and lashed in a shot.

Andy Johnson did score from the spot for Everton but Benni McCarthy added Blackburn's fourth to complete victory.

Never mind what playewrs we're missing, this defeat smacks of a lack of motivation and poor coaching. We have the team to beat Blackburn at home. Sure, I would like to see Howard, Carsley, Davies and Yobo replaced, but they are all capable enough, and we do have match winners in Arteta, Anichebe, and Johnson. I think Moyes is a good manager but there's something wrong with the coaching and motivation.

Being USA based, I didn't see the game today. It wasn't chosen for viewing on the Fox Soccer channel. But based on the paucity of glowing reports from everton fans I'll add a little something to the pot. There are obviously cliques within all football clubs and Everton is no exception. There appear to be three or four in the Goodison dressing room and it is clear that a consensus of these would indicate that the Toffees per se, didn't really want to go any further in the F.A. Cup this season; their hearts were definitely not into the competition. I also think they don't really want to get into the European strata. I'm expecting them to land about 15th by the time May comes around. We really need a Brian Clough at Everton. sadface

We were awful and yet were still the better side, the difference was Balckburn took their chances and we didn't and you can't afford to gift goals to the oppostion at this level. I thought Andy Van Der Meyde had a very good game today neville played well and that was about it. Carsley is too slow for this league and we need to sign a replacement. I love Mikky Arteta but i wish he'd just put the damn ball in. I would also like to say how poor the ref was today no way was ours a penalty and Van der Meyde was clearly fouled in the build up to Blackburns first, I want to see a win for us next week or i feel a change at the top is needed. Moyeys please prove me wrong

First off wp Blackburn, good luck for the rest of the cup.
Im getting pisd off at fellow efc fans who start calling for moyes's head after every defeat. We were poor today granted (even lescott!) but in moyes we have one of the best managers in the country. Before moyes came here we were finishing in the bottom 5 or 6 every season and would probably have got relegated by now. Moyes is still building his team and starting to play better passing football (rather than the unsworth punt to ferguson) I cant believe you cant see how much better off we are with him.

Moyes is still the man. Hopefully we'll have Nugent before long, then we'll have strikers fighting for their places (Johnson Anichebe and Nugent). Greenen obviously you didn't see the game, so don't comment on it! Also we are 12th in the current form tables and 8th in the league, so we aren't gonna get relegated and we aren't in poor form. As for being absolute rubbish, did you see the Chelsea game? 2 superb goals beat us in the last 10 mins. Beating Reading 2-0 and Newcastle 3-0 isn't what I'd call rubbish either!

Firstly, a note to ernestocheguevara. Any Everton fans that bother crowing about Liverpool are, like you, missing the point. I went to the game today and we lost because Blackburn scored more than us and we couldn't have scored against them in a month of playing the way we did! It doesn't always look like that but today we just got the tactics wrong and had no variation - sobeit!

Where this differs with yesterday's result is that we won't be whining about how it wasn't our fault, it was unfair, they were lucky etc. - we just weren't good enough. I'll be honest and say that I love to see Liverpool lose but nothing like as much as I like to see the aftermath - it wasn't our fault, it was unfair, they were lucky etc.

Liverpool supporters need to wake up and realise the obvious - like us your not as good as the big three (and yes I know you're in third place after a string of wins against mediocre opposition). Take my advice and seek out the reality pill. Trust me, it gets easier when you understand!

Finally, a note to David Moyes - this wasn't good enough today, there was no variety, little belief and not a lot of quality on display - there's a job to done here.

Whoever said Everton didn't play well at any stage is ignoring the fact we still had about 8 clear cut chances which were all skied high and wide. Arteta blazed had a couple, Anichebe was through but lacked composure, Carsley missed two or 3 headers from corners, Yobo skied a header and Osman also blazed a couple. So it was more down to Everton's poor finishing than any great defensive showing from Blackburn. Anyone wanting Moyes out needs their head testing...you must think before you speak, think before you speak, think before you speak. If any of our stikers deserves a start it's McFadden. He was great against Reading and Middlesboro and hasn't started since. Also, did Arteta's display remind anyone of Peter Beagrie yesterday? Someone, needs to have a word with him about his diving too, it was embarrassing.

I'm shocked to see that Everton only conceded 4.
