Footballer of the Year

Premiership

comment on the article

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes midfielder Paul Scholes is an early contender for the Footballer of the Year award.

He has indeed had a good season but so have several others.

Other contenders may include the likes of Ronaldo, Lampard, Parker, Van Persie and Drogba.

Who do you think should win?

I think the coverage on the BBC is very good. Schmeichael man u through and through so how you can say its anti man u i dont know. Villa should have had a penalty when Neville wrestled Barry to the floor yet it was never mentioned. They were all drooling over Larson to notice it. Rooney and Brown had absolute stinkers and Villa were very unlucky not to get a draw.

For me it has to be Ronaldo. Scintillating style, flamboyant goals, pace, tricky footwork, completeness. Can't see why anyone else should be put ahead of him.

AFC TU dan a couple of things:

It was a foul on Ronaldo, one of a number of challenges (from both teams) that were reckless and would have been at least free-kicks in a league game. presumably the ref let them go in the spirit of the FA Cup. Luckily there didn't seem to be any injuries.

The kick at the end was by a frustrated Rooney - which says everything about the accuracy of your post.

Ronaldo has very rarely dived at all this season - and received the benefit of the doubt a few times as a result (though jump on the Middlesbrough televised game incident if it makes you happy).

David Ginola won Footballer of the Year a few of seasons back, and he was nearly as big a diving cheat as Pires, Reyes and Patrick Vieira. Well nearly, anyway.

'Could all the manchestre united fans be quiet about the best player of the year when ronaldo only just has started carrying his own weight and scholes has just come back fromn god knows how long eye injury.'

Isn't Player of the year based on the current season?

you are obviously a bit jealous of Ronaldo's talent. he is simply the best at this point in the season, no midfielder has scored and brought so much to a team this season.
