Polygon ends Newcastle bid

Premiership Newcastle United
comment on the article

The Polygon-backed St James' Park Group consortium has said it has no current intentions of bidding for the Premiership football club.

It was one of several parties that had been reported to have made an approach regarding a possible takeover.

St James' Park Group said it reserved the right to make an offer or possible offer if circumstances changed.

Those circumstances would include any offer for the Magpies from another party.

Give your thoughts on this news. Would you welcome a bid by the Polygon backed group in the future?

more by luck. Naaah he did it last year to boost us towards europe, yeah we had a really crap start to this season but unlucky in the carling cup, but doing well in europe, yet to see in the FA. Dont get me wrong not sure that Roeder is the right man for the job but who else is there. Its mentioned that we need a manager that has a proven record of winning something. Sorry but i DONT think Fergie, Wenger, Rafa or Moriniho want the job.

timberheadtoon.i don't think pedigree or a manager proven to have won something is the answer.just look at the current crop of championship managers in the prem.they seem fantastic motivators.steve coppell and aidy bootroyd especially.i've always thought aidy bootroyd would be a better manager given a bigger club and more money.he also has a fantastic eye for detail.

natty

You obviously havent seen his posts before ('Coys'that is).

He is a tit. A Tottenham supporting one at that(perhaps explains a lot, but its unclear whether he's ever been to WHL)

natty I was only commenting on what others have said. For me I agree with on Coppell not so sure of Aidy, did tremendouslly well last year but may need more time to adjust to whats needed in the prem but definitly one for the future. I say stick with Roeder, let him make his mark on the side rather than other managers cast offs.

Prediction:

During 2007, Newcastle and Liverpool will both be taken over and the deals they make will be good for the clubs.

The buyers will guarantee that the clubs have working capital for new players, ground improvements etc, as well as paying off any existing debt.

So, Liverpool and Newcastle will be the 2 clubs that are most likely to be able to challenge Chelsea financially when the deals are completed, unlike Arsenal and especially Man Utd who seem to have financed their own takeovers with debt.

That'd be great but are you basing your prediction on anything other than optimism?

No chance us being relegated when we can keep taking points off Spurs without too much trouble smiley

I'm glad to see the polygon group pull out of the race to buy newcastle united and i hope roder buys players with proven premiership experience not like bale of southampton even though he is a good player.
