Portsmouth 1 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur

A Steed Malbranque goal earned Tottenham a deserved and hard-earned point at Portsmouth.

Benjani Mwaruwari put Portsmouth ahead with a right foot shot from 20 yards out that was aided by a Callum Davenport deflection.

Spurs levelled when substitute Danny Murphy's cross found an unmarked Malbranque at the back post to score.

Tottenham should have gone on to win the game with Jermain Defoe and Tom Huddlestone both denied by David James.

Give your thoughts on the match.

A very good point.

I was also disappointed that Jol replaced an attacking midfielder with a defender. Jol's main fault is his somewhat negative, safety-first approach. It has cost us heavily this season as we defend too deep and play without width. Saturday against Liverpool was just the latest example. Perhaps it is because he was a defender himself?

i think Gardner should have come on as we looked suspect at the back but to bring off Malbranque was ludicrus.

but for Zakoras cheating we would be level for the season...

i think its fair to say though that it would have been a completly different game if zokora hadnt been given the pen, i dont think spurs would have stopped attacking and i dont think they would have been put in the situation in which they were put in where they let in a sloppy goal.

Excellent performance by the boys, we outplayed Pompey and should have won the game. However, taking into account our awful away form this season, going away 2 high flying Pompey and getting 1 point - very pleasing!!

If we were dreadful I really don't know what makes you as we were argubly the better team. Ask yourself how many saves did Robinson have to make and how many did James(3 top draw saves), that tells you the story. As for gifting us our goal i think you'll find it was you that needed a gift, a gift of a deflection. Please take you head out of the sand young sailor boy. We were more than a match for you at your 'fortress' with half our team missing doh

deserved a win in the end in my opinion, but credit to the spurs defense, every time we got into the box we were blocked out almost immediately, we were the better team in the end though

If I had the room Steed had I would have scored. It's time Matt Taylor stopped rushing back onto the goal line and marked the player he is supposed to be marking
