Aston Villa 0-0 Chelsea

Premiership Aston Villa
comment on the article

Chelsea failed to break down Aston Villa to leave the champions six points behind leaders Manchester United.

The visitors dominated the first half and should have been well ahead by the interval, but both Didier Drogba and Ashley Cole missed gilt-edged chances.

Drogba miscued with a volley, while Cole headed straight at Gabor Kiraly.

Outclassed in that opening period, Villa provided a sterner test for Chelsea after the break and Liam Ridgewell went close with a header.

According to Rafa Gerrard will be playing a lot more in central midfield this season.

If Carrick and Hargreaves have good starts to the season, it may be time up with England for the contract rebel Lampard ok

Great, great goal from Gerrard against the Villa!

Yeah, and another anonymous performance for Frank 'The Invisible Man Lampard.

Here's a name to worry about for on-the-decline Frank Lampard. No, not Gerrard. Not Hargreaves either. They are rivals to concern him while sitting on the England bench. No, the name to send shivers down the neck of Mr L is one Florent Malouda. Exciting, talented, forward-thinking, pacey, skillful and strong; and inclined to break late into the box to get on the end of chances - as he did against Birmingham. Looks like Frank is set to play a deeper role this season, with less glory-seeking shots and assists. Let's see how he copes. Anon on Sat, despite Chelsea playing a full part in a five-goal thriller. Taxi for Frank...

Poor chelsea logic.

In two high pressure games the England have started to perform with balance and fluidity. Suprise suprise Frank Lampard didn't play in either of these two games.

It appears that the penny at last has dropped and Frank will be warming his ample buttocks on the bench ok

I don't think we should be posting this stuff about Lampard. Chelsea Logic might well go over the edge. We haven't seen him for a while, maybe he's turned to hurting himself to block out England recent performances without Fat Frank.

Looks like they're going to have to build a new, twice-as-wide bench out of reinforced concrete to contain said buttockswinkeye

Let's see: Jose gone, Frank on the way in January and out of the England team to be replaced by Gerrard, Drogba in a 'come and get me' plea to top European teams. Now Logic, who was right and who was wrong?

Logic has ran off.

His arguements in tatters, reality has given him a swift kick to the gonads.

You were wrong logic, horribly horribly wrong.
