Barber puts Giants on brink

comment on the article

Tiki Barber rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns as the New York Giants all but clinched a play-off berth with a 34-28 win over Washington.

The running back, who retires after this season, had 23 carries and scored on runs of 15, 55 and 50 yards, setting a new club single-game yardage record.

But the Giants (8-8) almost squandered a 20-point lead as the Redskins (5-11) mounted a late comeback.

However, Barber's haul saw them through and they now wait on Sunday's results.

With the win of the Gnats last night, the Eagles know that beating the Falcons will give them a home game against the Cowgirls, whereas defeat will see them having to travel to Seattle.
Either way the divisional games are not going to be easy - although i do prefer our chances against the Bears, rather than the Saints, but imagine gaining a superbowl berth will mean having to beat them both in consecutive weeks, something the team has been building to be able to do over the last 4 weeks.
Only 5 more games to go....
E-A-G-L-E-S for the BOWL!!!

The Giants are pretty much in - Chicago are the last team who'd want to let Green Bay in. Atlanta, Carolina and St Louis don't have a prayer.

Having read the scenarios, Green Bay need to win, and have these teams win...

Arizona
Detroit
Miami
Minnesota
San Francisco

...and these teams to lose...

Carolina
Houston
Tampa Bay

Way too much needs to happen for the Packers to make it.

Giants are in at 8-8. That tells you everything you need to know about the strength of the NFC. That and 9-7 Division champs (Hawks). In fact every team that had a winning record in the NFC is in the playoffs (all five of them).
