This is a good signing for wigan, he is a swedish international and coming from a club which is helsingborg, that has created many good players like Henrik Larsson.

My club (PSV) had shown interest in him a season or two ago..
Sounded like a good prospect.

a couple years back he was a pretty big prospect. interested waned in him, however, when he had a dip in form last season. this year he has been a massive part (along with henrik larsson and a few others) for why helsingborg finished 4th in sweden. i've seen him play once or twice, solid young player.

As said in the article Granqvist only has one international appearence for Sweden and I can't acyually remember when that took place. He is not mentioned often/at all in discussions regarding the Swedish national team. Not among the top defensive players in the swdish leauge, but since he's quite young he might have some potential.

Two years ago, Jewell had both Granqvist and Daniel Agger watched. He declined signing Agger because of his immaturity. Granqvist was considered the better talent at the time, so if he settles down as quickly as Agger has, then he could be first choice next season. Let's hope so because the "Old Guard" will be gone next season.
