"Yeah well, you know, I think we can take some positives out of today etc etc.. ". Not exactly what he said, but you just want him, and the rest of the team to be REALLY REALLY ANNOYED. Just this once. Please. Get upset!! Shout at Pugatch or whichever bloody journo comes within spitting distance! Show us you care. Christ, we've cared all these years, so it's payback time. Still, as long as the missus is having a good holiday eh? That's the main thing. Useless.

Yeah, I agree. All this meekness in defeat is such a contrast to our ecstacy in victory. I know they're professionals, and this is their job, so why should they put their match fees in jeopardy...but surely cricket - what they have devoted their lives towards - deserves a little more outward passion. If Boycott was in charge there wouldn't be all this apologetic feet-shuffling excuses at the end of every defeat...

It's how reluctant the team and management are to admit that they have made mistakes that is so infuriating, let alone there inability to bat under any kind of pressure.
It kills me saying anything bad about this team, but there is no hiding from the fact we’ve got just about what we’ve deserved.

I would say the same amount of tripe if I was an overpaid underperforming coasting prima donna. I'm sure Strauss would say they all got out as part of a plan to get Australia to bat!
Next we'll be hearing they lost the series 5-0 so they can give Warne a decent send off!
We're not even second best in this series.

dear english supporters, i too as an impartial neutral cricket fan share your anger and frustration at the farce this ashe series has become. Absolute lack of desire and pride in the english jersey, not one player man enough to stand up to the arrogant aussies.it reminds me of the bully in the schoolyard jeering as he inflicts pain on his hapless victim. no accountability from the pathetic management either. im angry and im not even english!!!

Just been listening to "boned", the latest offering from Billy Birmingham. Which is basically a send-up of the channel 9 cricket commentary team (Richie Benaud, Tony Greig, Bill Lawry etc.) here in Oz. Pretty funny stuff. Don't know if it is well known in England, but i think cricket followers would get a laugh out of it. I reckon you could do with a laugh.

Strauss cant show that he is upset with the captains decision to bat!
that would be completely unprofessional and undermine the whole point of the team!
sure show some passion but not to criticise the captain, like mahmood did aafter the las ttes ta fter his commnets of "feeling ignored".he should have been left out!we have been dreadful this series but strauss is right to back the captain we will get nowhere passing the buck thewhol eteam need to buck up their ideas and try and walk out of this series with some dignity!

What do you do? Playing an Australian team buoyed by confidence is one thing, playing said Australian team with Warne on fire is another altogether. Strauss can bat (but a 50 is hardly a champagne moment). All the English players can bat, but have not. When the top five do not set the bar high enough, we cannot expect the bowlers to do all jobs. It will be hard work from here...

garlee15, If you are not English, then what are you?
I resent your comment about the aussies being arrogant, Australians have always been good losers, and have been gracious winners too, it's very rare that you will find Australians denegrating a losing team in any sport, they are aware that success can be fleeting and todays success may be followed by tomorrows failure.
I hope and do believe that all cricket fans here appreciate talent, and skill, despite the country the players represent, Australian fans were pleased when Monty was chosen to bowl for England, because we like him and think he deserved a chance.
The Australian team is very talented and just maybe the best team Australia has ever produced, but to call them arrogant, is an unjustified opinion.

I think the main problem the English players have to face is the criticism from their own fans, these guys are trying their hearts out, they deserve your support, not your criticism. Christ, cricket, rugby and soccer were games for school boys to enjoy, you are taking sport far too seriously, cricket is the only game I like to watch, because I admire the skill involved, I've never played cricket at school, I wasn't good enough, I played a little when I was in the Army, where I was better, as a bowler, but, I have so much admiration for anyone who can play this game, which I consider the purest game ever.
Please don't be too hard on the English players they deserve your support, the alternative is no one will want to represent England in cricket in the long term, just look back a short time when Australia lost the Ashes, there were no calls for sackings or major changes, our attitude was good luck to England, we'll get them back next time.
Kind regards...Ron
