For once I'd say he is spot.

Interesting info about Troy Cooley is emerging. Apparently after the 2005 Ashes in the post mortem discussions Ponting said I want Cooley and he got him.
Maybe England were unable to retain him who knows.

As for Harmison when he first came on the test scene he was wayward and erratic with a horrible bowling action and I wondered why he had been selected.

With the arrival of Toohey as bowling coach Harmison was totally transformed and despite his action became a very dangerous and effective bowler utilising his height to the full.

Since Toohey has left Harmison has become gradually less and less effective.

His attitude is clearly a problem and as some people on this baord have suggested if he hasn't got the right attitude, temperament or bottle why bother with him. No player earns the right to be pampered like a baby he's being paid enough and should be more than proud to be given the opportunity to represent his country.

It's hard to imagine an Aussie having such a soft attitude though I remember Kim Hughes crying when he resigned as Aussie captain.

Like Newcastle United Harmison is becoming a loser.

Let's see if not playing one dayers makes Harmison more committed in test matches. It might have the opposite effect and he may never want to leave the North East again.

Frankly there are just too many games now, and retiring from ODI was a good move by Harmison IMO. Having said that, the England coaches should make sure Harmison is working on his fitness and action during this time off to ensure that he's in peak shape. The Ashes have shown that without a tall quick our attack looks rather toothless.

As for the tour we repeated exactly the same mistakes we made in Pakistan last year. Poor preparation, not enough preparation, taking unfit players etc. etc. If the ECB have any brains they will ensure this never happens again.

who cares he was good at test cricket for a short spell a few years and now is completely mince. he bowled well in 1 test last summer and has bowled poorly since the Ashes in 2005 - where he was if we are fair the least effective of the seamers.

He has always been rubbish at ODI as he has to be accurate & can't get away with poor bowling
