You've heard it here before any manager. Fabio Cannavaro of Real Madrid and Italy has won the FIFA World Player of the Year for the first time, followed by retired legend Zinedine Zidane and last years winner Ronaldinho.

The fact is that Canavaro is the world best player for 2006, if you say it is another person, tell me the person my guy. He helped Italy in Germany and conquered the world football which is the greatest football festival this year 2006, can you bet on that?

milky-milky - i just dont see how performing for 5 games at the World Cup can make you the best of the whole year!

The World Cup is hardly the best place to judge a player - most of the games are unbalanced.

If Cannavaro has any brain and dignity as a footballer - he should know that there are better players out there who is better than him. He's not even among the top 50 players out there who deserve it way before him. I can't se why Zidane not getting it - yes he behaved violently. Yet you can disregard his ability and achievement just for one incident. George Best for e.g is a great player - but what does the media do? Publish about his womanising and binge drinking etc. People should forget about image and focus on football.
