Arsenal

liverpool fan here. just seen that Arsenal are banning all national team flags. how ridiculous?! so its racist now to show your countries colours?! political correctness has gone too far. if arsenal claim to be 'culturally diverse' than allow everyone of any ethnic origin/culture etc to display their own colours. are any of you annoyed that you are denied this option, or maybe you could explain why it may be offensive?

What a stupid post. If it was you not being able to take an English Flag with you to an England away game you'd be pi$$ed off. Don't just look at thing from your point of view.

I think this is ridiculous. Arsenal fans have spent a lot of time and money making their own flags with the Arsenal name and badges on the St Georges flag. Are we saying that these people can't show off their work when they go to support the team they have supported all their lives.

Check out some of the flags at www.barmyflags.com to check out some of their fine work.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I think they say Irish and England flags with the Arsenal badge on. So they are more than happy to take our money.

I think Arsenal have made a very rash decision here just to make sure they don't get accused of being politically incorrect.

What they haven't banned is the wearing of national teams shirts. Therefore I think all of us going to the game on Saturday should make every effort to wear our national teams shirts to the game. Just to prove that the vast majority of us get along at Arsenal no matter where we are from.

Spread the word.

Don't you understand thta fans are only allowed into games to pay the crazy wages and provide noise?

Other than that the marketing organsation known as Arsenal FC doesn't give a toss about you.

But you carry on living the myth that you support a football team.

France shirts will be fine. However I was assuming it would be England shirts. I know most non Arsneal fans like to believe that but you will notice Ronaldo get deservedly booed for his part in England getting knocked out of the world cup.

Come on gooners show your national colours on Saturday.

It might not achieve much but will be a laugh.

Wow this conversation has gone mad and a little off the original point.

I'm not an Arsenal fan, but I can't see what else they can do in this national climate of political correctness gone mad.
I think the section of Arsenal fans who were offended by the flag had a right to be upset, but at the same time it's a sticks and stones incident.
At the end of the day Arsenal could have a spine and just say leave your political issues at the turnstile.

Football fans love wind ups. The players get it, the fans get it. But what can you do about it?

Answer, rise above it.

What we gonna do next ban the Union Jack because the BNP use it as their emblem?

The clubs cannot be held fully accountable for every individual fan that attends and a blanket ban is the only way not to discriminate. But that's hardly Arsenal's fault that this country PC potty

But then if they do keep the ban permanent, then does it really matter?
If your an Arsenal fan or a travelling fan, does it really matter that you can't wave a national flag? Your there for your club not your country.

As for the posts slamming Arsenal for being anti-English blah blah. it's nonsense. That coming from a Chelsea fan.

Every team wants the best players, no matter where they are from. My view is that cream rises to the top.
From what I can see it looks like we have some good players coming through and the problem is not as bad as people think.

Although Arsenal have developed and bought english players before. The problem is that most them failed to deliver the promised goods. Jeffers, R. Wright, Pennant to name a few.

Although back to the original point. If there's another practical solution that would make everyone happy, other than a total flag ban, it would interesting to see what someone could come up with?
