No signings for Arsenal

Premiership Arsenal

Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has told Thierry Henry that there will be no new signings in the January transfer window.

Henry, who is currently sidelined with a neck injury, has reportedly told manager Arsene Wenger that the squad needs to be strengthened if the Gunners are to keep up with Manchester Utd and Chelsea.

But Dein has been told by Wenger that he will not be looking to spend the cash in January, but instead look to give the younger players their chance to mature in the Premiership.

"Arsene's said we will not be that active in January. He's very happy with a good, talented squad," Dein told the News of the World.

"Putting players on top of players you don't give the younger ones a chance, that's not right nor fair. The youngsters are maturing but won't mature if they don't play. Arsene gives youth a chance, like Cesc Fabregas."

Dein insists that Arsenal are proud of their continued ability to both find young talent and run a sustainable club at the same time.

"We are not big spenders in the market. The first 11 that took to the field against Chelsea cost less than Andrei Shevchenko on his own," added Dein.

"We look for emerging talent. We have to track players down who people haven't heard of. We scout the world to find the best talent within our budget.

"We are running a sustainable club. We are planning for the future with the youngsters."

for me i agree with dein but we need new goal keeper only
what do you think?

i think that arsenal ned to get some players in that will strenghten the title opportunities, they should buy buffon, richards, bale, torres, and ribery as these players will help the title bid and also help us to win the champions league for the first time.

Spurs need a leader in midfield. For the past 2 seasons we've always said how we think we're good enough for the top 4 but where is our leader? Arsenal have Gilberto, Man U have Giggs, Chelsea have Makelele and Essien, and Liverpool have Gerrard. Spurs need a world-class international star to step into the midfield and fill the current gaps. That is the step up to the next level. Our chances of finishing in the top 6 this year are slim and our best chance of Europe for next season is through the cups. Spurs don't need to go crazy in the January transfer window but just sign 1 renowned leader in midfield and some support for our lacklustre defence. It'd also be helpful if we could keep hold of Berbatov and make as little loss as possible on Bent. Any offers? Lets start the bidding at 20 quid...

We need to replace Lehmann but not sure who with, but not Carson like some people have suggested.

We need a decent centre back as well, Djourou just isn't good enough and Senderos is awful. Wouldn't mind if we sold both of them.

Other than that we don't need to buy anyone. It's only fair that the youngsters get their chance because some of them will be tomorrow's starting XI players. Also spending big isn't Wenger's style and often it just doesn't work, look at Liverpool and Spurs.

I don't think that arsenal will buy anyone in the transfer window, they don't really need to either because their players are quite versatile. United won't need to buy either because our squad is much stronger than last season (although a long term right back won't go amiss and finally get rid of wes brown!!). Not sure what Liverpool will do with the saga they have got going over there and as for Chelsea they'll probably sign a few big signings with the money they have. A few Juventus players maybe as they will not be cup tied for CL.
Anyway - I just hope the second half of the season is exciting, if not better, then the first. May the best team win!......
