comment on the article

The FA Trophy first round took place on Saturday afternoon and saw a number of surprise results and upsets.

AFC Wimbledon won at Aldershot, Histon thumped Cambridge United and Lewes held Oxford United - to name just three.

How did your side get on? Who are your tips to win the silverware come the end of the competition?

Give your thoughts on the day's action.

I think Exeter have a decent shout of winning the trophy after getting to the semis last season. They beat Heybridge yesterday. It was a no nonsense sensible game. What does everyone else think about their chances?

My own allegiancies lay with the Albion but I do follow the non-league sides in Sussex who over the past 4 or 5 years have started to stir and take their football seriously. The fortunes of Crawley Town have been well documented and I wish them well in their fight for survival both on and off the pitch, though yesterday's result can only be regarded as a major set back.
Histon dumping Cambridge 5-0 was a suprise but the result of the round has to be Lewes's 0-0 draw with Oxford Utd a side who are all but back in the football league I don't know the nuts and bolts regarding the match yet, but good luck to the Rooks with the replay at the Kassim Stadium

as an exeter fan i would olve for us to get to the final as it would be a great day out,but i think our league form should be a priority. it will be intersting to see what team tisdale fields in the next round becuase it was nice to see some of the regular subs get a game yesterday (moxey, ada etc). im hoping for a home draw. i would be confident of beatin anyone in non-league at home.

I think we'll get to the 4th round/quarter finals of this competition and i think we'll do a Boreham Wood now. I hope we either get an easy home tie or a big game against one of the top teams. I don't really want a game against a fellow Ryman league team unless they're near the bottom. But that win sets the standard for the rest of the season now. We've gotta push on from there and win promotion

Actually i think we're the only Ryman team left in the competition. We've done extremely well to get where we are now beating Tonbridge, Eastleigh and now Aldershot.

Is the trophy second round still regional?

Will we possbibly get the chance to play anyone?

Try Southport!
They just managed to win, at home, yesterday; have been having a really bad time this season,( not all their own fault), and are at the beginning of a (I believe) good run of form.
I know I am barmy, I go to see most of their home matches, but I have a dream and I believe it will come true!!

Whats your dream Mr Southport fan?

Well as for Woking for me after watching Salisbury do superbly well to hold Nottingham Forest in The FA Cup i knew that they could definitely cause us problems and with our stinking run of form at the moment we lost AGAIN.
Matt Tubbs who scored against Forest was the main danger man and he scored two.
Another thing, Histon who are probably as good as us at home or a similar standard managed to score 5 goals against Cambridge and win 5-0. We couldn't even manage 1 f**ing goal at all and lost 1-0 to a team who really aren't very good but then again neither are we.
But its very dissapointing after last year getting to the final and i think its definitely time for a change of manager and focus on staying in mid table now.
