What a relief.

Anyone see the game? If so, how did Arsenal play?

Its good for the Premiership that everyone got through, should be some cracking ties in the next round.

On another topic, have Arsenal got Toure and Gallas out on Sunday? I was hoping for an Arsenal win (obviously with an ulterior motive!) but if they're both out you may get a thrashing at the Bridge.

Toure is suspended and Gallas has a 20% chance of making it according to Wenger. Djourou also said he felt his hamstring twinge vs Porto so lets hope he's ok, otherwise we may well see Gilberto and Senderos at the back...dear god!

As for the Porto match it reminded me a lot of the 2nd leg vs Villareal last year...knowing 0-0 would do us, and thus playing the whole game pretty nervously and giving the ball away often and not ever really mounting any decent attacks....good job though as we made it safely through smiley

another reason for UEFA and the European league to consider making it three points for a win, one for a score draw, no points for either side for a 0-0. That way you won't have teams kicking off with the only objective being preventing the other team from scoring. The fans in attendance last night should demand their money back.

5 British clubs go through- 4 as group winners. But be honest, are you really convinced about our chances?

I am not convinced about our chances but to be honest I wasn't last season either but we got to the final. One thing i have noticed about Arsenal is that we love the underdog tag. So I am not so worried.

The CL is a European version of the FA cup, where sometimes fortune rather than consistent proficiency is the order of the day. Liverpool won the CL despite finishing a dismal 5th in league, whilst Arsenal almost made a total mockery of the competition finishing fourth last season, yet miraculously getting to the CL final. So Arsenal have every chance of winning it, just as Liverpool do!!

As an admirer of the way Arsenal normally play, I thought the Porto performance an absolute disgrace and found myself on the point of wanting a Porto vicory. So the poor darlings were nervous then, but aren't they supposed to be professionals?
They reminded me of the desperate performances of England in the World Cup, which wasn't a pleasant experience. What would have happened had one of the shots against the post gone in? I couldn't see this dishevelled bunch of gutless wonders coming back from that!
