Morning all,Great performance by Matthew Hoggard to pick up 7-109 off 42 overs. On a wicket that isn't helping the pace bowlers, it's a monumental effort from the Yorkshireman. How does that rate in England bowling performances in your eyes?

I knew that this test was the one for Hoggard, or at least that it was his opportunity. They said it was a slow pitch and without Panisar our only bowler who is really dangerous in those conditions is Hoggard> Yum: The subtlety of pace and movement.Looks like no result, here's hoping England keep up the good work, make some improvements and make a contest of this series.

Hoggy is a phenomenon - this remember is the guy who entered the team to hold the coats of the 'big boys' - look at him now! What an example of patience and perseverance. Interesting that the Aussie media see him, as they see Colly, as a 'jobbing builder' - it must hurt them like hell that it was people they consider rather low in the pond life who came up the plate so magnificently. England need to watch it tomorrow though - 97 for 1 is definitely no comfort zone against even a slightly on the decline Australian team. And let's give credit also to Ponting for another searing century - however, despite the many comments he is definitely NOT THE DON!!!!!
<ale> <ale> <ale> and three cheers to a fabulous journey man, salt of the earth honest trier
On a truly flat pitch that was a disgrace for test match cricket Hoggy put in a truly fantastic performance. When will Freddy realise that the back up bowling is not there. Get Mahmood and Monty in now and maybe we might be able to get 20 wickets in 5 days. Sorry jimmy and King of Spain - you just aren't good enough. Giles has a bowling average of 40 - this is unacceptable!
Fantastic stuff from Hoggy.Only 7 above him in the all time test wickets taken by Englishmen. He certainly has the potential to get past Hoggard, but I wonder if he can get close to the record?
Hoggard = Legend, he has been awesome, hopefully for many years to come
Well SAID SIR ! Matthew Hoggard the salt of the earth. What a performence, Head and shoulders above many,Im surre he will make a huge difference on the last day R Taylor
Hoggy was super.Who will support him in the next test?Harmison is looking better, but not quite right.Flintoff is having ankle problems. If he can't bowl, perhaps he shouldn't be in. Strauss to revert as captain?Anderson and Giles not effective.Does this mean a complete change?
Hey guys - remember the old saying, "when Yorkshire is strong, England is strong"? Hoggy's keeping the plate warm for Vaughny's return - OK, an adopted Tyke, but what the hell! Once the (collective) boys are back in town, Aussie had better start planning surrender tactics!
Totally agree, when all around him is losing heart and struggling to make a difference Hoggy steps up and carries the innings on his shoulders. Well done Big Man!!!
