Salisbury 1-1 Nott'm Forest

FA Cup
comment on the article

A well-deserved draw for Conference South side Salisbury earned them a replay against Nottingham Forest.

Forest had gone ahead with the half-hour thorugh Nathan Tyson's strike, but Matt Tubbs' cool finish gave Salisbury the equaliser.

The winner will face Premiership side Charlton in the third round.

What did you make of the match, and what are your predictions for the replay?

Living abroad for many years but having BBC 1&2, I thought it was fantastic to see my old home town team on TV. Well done Salisbury, you will end up playing Charlton and you will win. Thanks BBC for showing this match.

Salisbury city rock!!!!
Seriously, I was not expecting a draw and full credit to the players and Nick Holmes.
Nottingham Forest will be tough away, but Salisbury have shown that they can hold their own against the big clubs- after all, Forest next season could be a championship team.

Forest should win the replay but not comfortably.

For considerable spells of the game Salisbury looked the better side and certainly deserved a replay at least.

If Forest fans think the replay is going to be a walk-over they are fools and it is just that attitude among the Forest players that could lead to Salisbury coming away the wins.

Well done Salisbury, it was a good game to watch and you did yourselves proud on the tele.

COME ON SALISBURY GIVE US A WILTSHIRE WIN - YOU CAN DO ITsmileysmileysmileysmiley

It was very odd seeing a small ground that i have been to on numerous occasions on the TV being given the same sort of covearge you see most weeks from the premiership! Great for us in this small city!
I couldnt get tickets but sat proudly on the sofa hoping that the lads wouldnt just get brushed aside by what should be a far superior team.. 70 odd league places after all. We showed alot of grit and determination in the 1st half. The previous nights weather didnt do the best for what is normally a top class pitch that most league sides would be proud of. In the second half i thought we were fantastic, and the back 3 for forrest struggled to contain our front two of Sales and Tubbs. They showed that they can be a handful. Tubbs' finish was top class in a sticky box he showed his class, Hopefully city will be able to hold on to this gem. As for Clarke at the other end. some crucial saves and a top draw performance. Its not often our little city gets national covearage, but on each occasion we show that we have oddles of heart and courage. Looking forward to the replay. On what will hopefully be a better pitch we will show that we can really play some quality passing football, and that we can mix it up with the best. It should be a great game!

WELL DONE LADS

i dont think many forest fans thought that would be a walkover, even though the rest of the country seemed to think it should be.
Forest have only been strong going forward this year in the spells when theyve playeed on the deck. It was obvious from the start that wasnt possible on that pitch, so i was hoping for 1 or 2 nil, relying on our so far excellent defence.
Credit to salisbury though, they deserved their goal and their luck on the penalty.
On a proper pitch, i cant see past a forest win, we'll move the ball too quickly, but itll certainly be another good game.

I'll admit that Salisbury did well, but I think that Forest deserved the win despite what people are saying. We had a blatant penalty turned down, and had 2 or 3 very good chances in the first half, discluding our goal. We should really have been 3-0 up at half time and it would have been game over. But as a forest fan I didn't expect it to be a walk in the park. When people realise that last season we got knocked out of cups by Macclesfield, Woking and Chester and earlier this season by Accrington. A draw at Salisbury, a very tight and windy ground doesn't seem so bad. This is the cup, after all. Remember Nuneaton holding Boro, Orient beating Fulham and Exeter and Burton Albion holding Man Utd. We should beat them at the City Ground especially since we'd get Charlton and a reunion with Reidy but we can't be over confident. But hopefully we'll go through.

COME ON YOU REDS!!

Being a forest fan meant i knew this would not be easy. I was right. Forest should have won but i think Salisbury should deserve all the credit they get as they gave us a good game. 2-0 in the replay on a flat pitch. Also, will Calderwood stop playing Harris, he hasn't done anything for us. Glad to see both Tyson and Dobie playing well after long spells out through injury. COME ON YOU REDS, BRING ON CHARLTON!
