Bullard op a success - surgeon

Premiership Fulham
comment on the article

Jimmy Bullard's latest knee operation has been declared a success by the renowned surgeon who performed it.

Dr Richard Steadman operated on the Fulham midfielder for the second time this week to try and repair the knee ligaments he injured in September.

"There's no guarantee he'll come back - I can never guarantee something like that," Steadman told BBC Sport.

"But all the signs are positive. We had a video that showed the injury and it was as bad as it gets."

Why do these players keep going to a man known as some pretty disparaging things in some medical circles? We have the best knee surgeons in the world here in the UK. Muppet.

Hope he recoverds fully though. Still don't know why wigan let him leave

If jimmy doesn't make it it will be such a tragedy for the player & really hard luck on Fulham, who've had little fortune this year, so crossed fingers that he'll be back as good as new next season.

Nicely said Rocky57. I really hope he makes a full recovery. He is such a character, and the fans love him.

We had to let Jimmy leave. He had a clause in his contract.

Also, his dad is ill and couldn't make the trip up north every week to watch him play. Plus, he's a southerner and his girlfriend is too.

Saint Brewster of the Gardens, who would be stupid enough to go to the USA when the best surgeons as you have said are right on your doorstep? Steadman is the only surgeon that has successfully operated on these knee surgeries, knee injuries related to football. He isn't the only one either. Shearer, Owen, Nistelrooy - you should see his office by golly jerseys from top clubs everywhere.

I think that it's a great shame that this lad's career lies in the balance as a result of two honest players competing fairly for a ball in a 50-50 challenge. I, and 50,000 other Geordies who witnessed the incident wish Jimmy all the luck in the world.
