Eggert Magnusson

Eggert Magnusson has promised he will adopt a hands-on approach as West Ham's new owner and has confirmed he has moved to London from Iceland.

"I aim to be here all the time," West Ham chairman Magnusson told BBC Sport.

Do you think his parents named him Eggert before or after he was born?

Hehehe Mrginge read Les Willis and stop being such a grump, it has to make you chuckle. footy_analysis I think when he was born the English doctor screamed 'aaagh its an egg' and the parents just put and icelandic twist on it. Also i eggree (hehe) that Pardew should pick the team, he has the respect of every West Ham fan, and I mean, he's done alright so far aint he?

I am a little unsure what West Ham have done to garner all, what appears to me, or am I just being a bit touchy(?), a little bit of negative spin against the Hammers? Is it because we did well last year and as we are one of the little fish we need to be put back in place? If so, please could the media please lay-off a little and be a bit happy for us and the premiership. All teams need to have a bit of ambition and it would be great if we thought we could challenge a bit higher up the league, I don't reckon we'll ever win it (thats already decided before the start of each season) but why shouldn't we be entitled to ruffle of few feathers along the way and maybe have another season like 1986 (remember that year, 3rd in the league and in with a shout with a couple of games to go!)Like we sing, our dreams may fade and die but at least we have dreams!

i personally think him wanting a hands on approach is great for the hammers, a chairman who has as much enthusiasm for the team as the fans can only be good surely?

Seen some very flippant comments here so far but the bottom line is that I am extremely pleased that it is Magnusson and not Joorabchian. The latter with his Iraili financial backer would have surely stripped the asserts of West Ham.

Eggert comes across to me as a genuinie football man; the mere fact that he is steeped in it via his Icelandic position and his EUFA role gives credence to this.

I have no problem with his hands on role and do not think it will stretch into ruling over Pardew into the running of the team. I cannot think he is that stupid.

Bottom line it looks good for the Hammers and as a supporter for over fifty years see this as a great landmark for their future. Best of luck Eggy.

As opposed to the Glazers, Eggy looks to be a genuine football fan with a passion for the game. In that way, he is a bit like Abramovich, just that he is more talkative laugh

anyway, great news for West Ham; Kia could have been a potential disaster.
