Scotland were outclassed at Murrayfield

Scotland's miserable run against Australia continued with a comfortable win for the visitors at Murrayfield.

Simon Webster gave the Scots some early hope with a try but Australia soon took complete control of the game.

Stephen Larkham touched down and Mark Gerrard added two more tries after the interval, while Stirling Mortlock was in fine kicking form.

Hugo Southwell grabbed a fortunate try for Scotland but Stephen Moore and Chris Latham replied with late scores.

Not Scotlands best performance for ages. I think that there is no doubt that the injuries came home to roost. To lose players like Beattie, Cusiter, White, Hogg and Webster during the game was just too much for the squad.

As usual the Australian pack get away with murder - going over the top; handling in the ruck; preventing release of the ball etc etc - it seems to me that referees are increasingly being fooled because they can't see everything that is going on.

Scotland just went back 5 years. Appalling rugby, missed tackles, no ambition after the first 8 minutes.

Scotland remind me of Ireland in the late 80s/early 90s. A fairly decent team, but with no superstars, and not a great deal of strength in depth. Scotland got into good positions on quite a few occasions, but weren't clinical enough in getting over the try line. Whilst there's no doubting the work ethic of the team, their backs seem to lack that little bit of class to get over the line. Plenty of possession, but no end product.
Much has been said of the current 'set-up' of Irish rugby, but is the Scottish set-up not similar? Maybe we have been lucky that there is a decent crop of Irish players around, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of top class Scottish players at the moment (same could be said of England)

Pathetic performance. It simply shows that Scottish rugby still has a public school mindset.

Well done to the forwards out on the pitch they held their ground and only really struggled in the scrum. Its the usual case of good forwards not trusting the backs when camped on the try line. Dan parks was terrible, slow, predictable and basically USELESS as usual. out of the three danger backs webster went off injured, and Lamont and Patterson only did well when they came and got the ball themselves. Give number 10 back to Patterson and we might see sum improvement in the backs.

A very poor Scottish performance, especially in front of a full-house! 22 tackles missed compared to 6 from Australia, and far too many errors. We desperately missed White and Hogg. Webster and Dewey would also have made a difference. When we are short of top quality players we should concentrate on doing the basics like scrumaging and kicking to touch.
Talk of back to the drawing board is too negative because it has still been a good year, but more work to do.

Not the best performance from Scotland but got to be realistic with white, hogg, and then webster missing its a big ask to beat the aussies. Would of liked the score to be closer tho but a good season all the same.
Player of the season has got to be webster for always putting in 100% in every game, Lamont has got to start showing why he should be in the team, excellent game against England and nothing since, He's got the skills and the fitness so there really no excuse for a lack luster performance.
u cant say its been a bad season when we've beaten England and France and had a 2 very close games with South Africa, compared to matt williams reign this is a very good season.
