Gallas injured

Premiership Arsenal
comment on the article

Title says it all, so what does this mean for the side, considering we're heading into our most crucial period of the season so far without a quality defender?

Taking it as a whole, well not much seeing as we have 2 young able deputies who've proved their worth in the CL and in the Premiership. That said, any team, especially one which is a little vulnerable defensively, would miss a player like Gallas

2 things that spring to mind however.

1) We'll see if, as likely, Senderos comes in to fill his shoes, whether we'll be more stronger on set-pieces then as shown previously. This is offset by the fact we could be more susceptible to fast, nimble forwards which Gallas eats for breakfast and Senderos doesn't.

2)Whether the defence abandons its more carefree style and instead play a lot more conservatively. Forays forward which the likes of Toure and Gallas have been doing recently may be curtailed

Oh and this should result in Gallas missing the Chelsea match which is a bit of a shame, considering the history there.

If you check the Chelsea players that celebrate the goals, Cole is always one of the first and shows a looot of passion!!!!

******

he is turning into Rio Ferdinand - check out the celebration for any England or United goal.

It is a group of players celebrating with Rio jumping on top of them posing for the camera!

seriously though - i saw Cole celebrating the goal vs West Ham and he looked liked he was being blanked by his team mates!!

you did not comment on the fans -

do you guys respect Ashley? are you happy to sing his name?

Ginger Gooner.

Now there's a name!

Do you get in the Metro bar on Holloway Road pre match? Somebody with yr name on his back does if it isn't you my freind.

Nope, that's it not me - I don't have a name or number on the back of my shirt - nor do i go into the metro bar

Thinking of putting that on my shirt tho, for a laugh.

Gallas will not be missed and this gives a good opportunity for Senderos, which is vital for him to continue to get first team experience to develop.

What Senderos lacks in pace and experience he makes up with in aerial ability and defensive presense. Whilst a very different player to Gallas I rate Gallas only slightly above Senderos and have full confidence in him as a CB.

Remember it's the Toure and Senderos partnership that set the defensive record for the CL.

Gallas injury is a blow, however it will enable the young one to build up their confidence and after the injury arsenal will be better for it.senderos played well last year but need time to regain match fitness.

Another reason why I'm glad we got rid of Gallas, what use would he be to us now?

I don't believe you mean one word of that. Chelsea would gladly have Gallas back....any day of the week! And you know it....!!!

Well we're missing Gallas more then we think.

We were excellent defensively before, save a few concentration issues. Now its 5 goals in 2 games which is totally out of sync with how the defence has been doing previously.

Wasn't the inclusion of Senderos in the side supposed to have eliminated the problems from set-pieces? ( ComfychairX, LaP, step in here and explain yourselves)

Senderos is essentially a good defender but he needs to be much more meaner, carry an edge about him to be effective in the Premiership. Had him down as 3rd choice defender but he's flopped it, so 4th choice defender from now on
