Man City 3-1 Fulham

Premiership Manchester City
comment on the article

Bernardo Corradi ended his Manchester City goal drought as Stuart Pearce's side struck three first-half goals to cruise past disappointing Fulham.

Corradi volleyed home strike partner Georgios Samaras' header for his first goal of the season after 12 minutes.

He then turned home Joey Barton's pass before the Merseysider slid in the third seconds before the break.

Substitute Collins John lobbed home a neat finish for Fulham after 62 minutes, but City were worthy winners.

Swap Reyna for Ireland and we're getting there!

-------------------------

I've never really understood the cult of Stephen Ireland at city. Surely is he were to play it would be in the place of Barton? We do need a player who can link defence with midfield and Reyna does this well. Could you imagine if we did put Ireland in midfield against Liverpool? The boy has some nice touches but also has less presence on a football pitch than oxygen. It'd end up with Barton having to do too much donkey work and dropping deep just so we could carry him, and we need JB to push the team forward.

I admire Stephen Ireland but can't really see a use for him except to play at the front of a five man midfield. A system I hate us using at the best of times.

Well said, GazMedina. I cannot see what is so great about Ireland. He is too light weight for me and Sir Joey would end up doing twice the work. While I am not Reynas greatest fan I can see that he holds the ball up to enable Sir Joey to go forward. What would be the sense in playing Ireland. When Dabo is fit I would like to see him play a couple of games rather than Ireland. A good sub but thats about it at the moment.

If I was a City fan I wouldn't be getting too excited.

We were woeful first half with Coleman getting the tactics well wrong. Playing 4-5-1 away to City was so negative. And Brian, as much of a legend as he is, aint a lone striker.

Donny Reserves would have gone in 3-0 up at the break.

Hello Bex,

I am really disappointed. I cant understand why Cookie issued an invitation to City to attack at will.

I really felt sorry for McBride. As you say he is not a lone striker, and he is getting no support from midfield.

Hey CoB - how you doing?

I honestly think that Coleman has cost us 8 points this season with his negative tactics (Watford, Wigan @ home, and now City). I understand that we have had a horrendous injury list but on Saturday there was no excuse to not start with two upfront. It's all very well Brian being able to hold the ball up but he aint got noone to hold it up for!

But one good thing to come out of the game was Boa's second half performance.

A bit back to the Boa of old and a proper Captain's performance.

Why does Coleman play 4-5-1 against WATFORD, at home to Wigan, and then the 1st half of the match Saturday.

We were we are coz we've sorted out our away form. I don't want to get on Coleman's back - I think he is great for Fulham and I think he has done alot more right than he has done wrong but his NEGATIVE tactics sometimes get on my tits.
