Sad to hear the great Dessie has passed away - Some of fondest memories of racing are watching the great grey.

RIP

Thanks Themedwaymond. Whilst I don't agree with your comments I do respect your freedom to state them. I would suggest however it may not be wise to give your opinion on a subject you obviusly know nothing about. It just compounds your ignorance. If you had bothered to look into Dessie's 'selective breeding' you'd have realised it was anything but. Part of the story is his courage in getting to the top without having the required blood lines......

I had the great pleasure of meeting
Dessie on a number of occasions linked to charity events, he was a
true gentleman and a real star.
He was a special horse and all who met him fell under his spell.
Love and miss you Dessie xxx

Dessie was simply the greatest, he had such guts and character.

I had the honour of meeting him at Woburn Abbey at least 10 years ago, and had my photo taken with him, what a poser but what a horse.

I only have one photo in my bedroom and that is of Dessie.

RIP Desert Orchid, thanks for the memories x

I had the pleasure in meeting dessie a few times, he stole my heart all those years ago.
I was on holiday last week when I found out the day after he had died that he had gone. I have shed tears since but thank god he didn't suffer. RIP dessie you were the best and enjoy your days in the meadow in the sky.....

I think this horse was a beauty.I think his best memory would be in the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup where he beat Yahoo in a thriller. He will be missed terribly but he was an absolute superstar and everyone adored him

Dessie was a fantastic and bold grey horse that i never stopped watching. He took your breath away everytime he jumped, always got other horses in trouble with his jumping and my heart goes out to Richard Burridge and his family for the loss of one of the best racehorses England ever had, He will be sadly missed by all.
