Thanks Mr LernerPremiership Aston Villa by monisspecial (U5941036) 04 November 2006 The gesture of RL this week to pay for the fans trip to Chelsea is symptomatic of how this very humble man does his business . He clearly already has the passion that the rest of us have for the Villa and Im sure our club is in safe hands . It may sound churlish to say that these days gestures of this type usually come hand in hand with self publicity .However the first thing our fans and the world knew about this gesture was when they came to book their tickets for the trip .Thanks Mr Lerner , we are priveldged to have you as our Chairman . mercy_seat (U5799678) posted Nov 5, 2006 I'm a Liverpool fan but went to University in Birmingham during your glory years under Ron Saunders. Great entertainment with the likes of Gary Shaw and Norman Cowans, I seem to remember. The Midlands needs a big and successful club like the old days (yourselves, Forset - OK East Midlands, I suppose). I for one am cheering you on, as long as you finish one place below Liverpool!

SWiA (U2328170) posted Nov 5, 2006 It is not a measure of how humble Lerner is, more a measure of how much money his company (MBNA) has screwed out of football fans over the years.

SK (U6542878) posted Nov 9, 2006 I'm a United fan, and I wish the Glazers were as generous as Randy is with the Villa. The Glazers won't even give us a word on anything to do with the club. Glad to see your heading in the right direction under O'Neill, Villa are a big club with plenty of tradition and deserve to back among the big boys of the game. Plus I think any footy fan will tell you that seeing Ellis every week was like a perenial bad weather forecast. The rainman is gone! Comment on this article
