Step up to the plate

Premiership Manchester City

Well, another game and more proof that we don't employ any natural goal-scorers.Thus far Georgios Samaras is proving to be the biggest waste of six million pounds in the history of the club (worse even than Nicholas Anelka). I cannot criticize the hunger and desire the team are showing and they are clearly providing value for money entertainment to the week in week out fans.
I also have to feel sorry for Stuart Pearce who really does have the team fired up, unfortunately with little or no end result.
It is time for those players, who are paid almost solely to score goals, to step up to the plate and do their jobs before others are brought in to do their jobs for them. City fan disgruntled

Bradley Wright-Phillips scored today. He might have been our best striker if we hadnt sold him. At least he knows what a striker is supposed to do. Doh!

Are City fans ever anything else but disgruntled at the season after season disapointments?

"worse even than Nicholas Anelka"

Far as I can remember Anelka did nothing but be our top goalscorer for his whole time with us ...

We were unlucky yesterday, the footballing gods have never liked us ... however its getting near the time to try Sturridge

i agree anelka at least knew where the back of the net was when he was in 'the mood to find it'. unfortuneately as far as my recollection serves he never scored as many as he was rated to be able (as bolton are discovering). if you add this to the facts that he spent most of his time sulking about the service he was getting and also that as far as i can remember never actually worked to get the ball, then i am happy to stand by my 'waste of money' comment. does anybody else believe that he never felt to be true blue?

Anelka's record in the Premiership for City was 38 goals from 87 games. I don't think anyone else has got anywhere near that for us since the Premiership was formed.

Soem slightly cliched opinions of Anelka on here. Without him we would have been relegated, simple as that really.

Samaras's record is actually quite good as well. Lets judge him when he gets a run in the team with a settled partner. He has shown touches of linking up well with Corradi and last season looked the part with Vassel. I just wish people would stop whinging - its not that the personnel aren't good enough for their roles, we just need a playmaker.

oooh steady girlarms ! value for money ? not sure as took my 6 year old for his first taste of singing the blues on saturday and thought about slipping away at half time. as usual dunne was charging around stopping most and with 433 in 2nd half (i'm including trabelsi in there as he easily looked the quickest on the attack) we looked more dangerous & though it leaves you vulnerable on the counter with our strikeforce we need as many as we can get up there. please don't get me started on corradi. 442 with dickov & samaras is like watching the two ronnies and must not happen again . .ever!

You paid £6 mill for Corradi? Oh god. I thought he cost £2 or 3 mill at most.
