Watford remained winless in 10 league games after a lively, goalless draw against Tottenham at Vicarage Road.

Hornets winger Tommy Smith rued a wasted opportunity with an amazing miss from just three yards out after just seven minutes.

And Ashley Young's goal for the home side was controversially ruled out for offside just before the break.

Tottenham's Aaron Lennon was denied four times while Robbie Keane saw his effort cleared off the line late on.

What did you make of the match?

Team list
Watford: Foster, Doyley, DeMerit, Shittu, Stewart, Smith, Mahon, Francis, Bouazza, Henderson, Young.

Subs Not Used: Lee, Mackay, Powell, Bangura, Priskin

Tottenham: Robinson, Chimbonda, King, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Jenas, Huddlestone, Ghaly (Murphy 67), Keane (Defoe 76), Berbatov

Subs Not Used: Cerny, Davids, Gardner

As Spurs fan we must put this down to Cup withdrawal effects me thinks.

From the text commentary it would seem that we had the chances again to overwhelm our opposition, but failed one way or another to grab one.

However, credit must go to their keeper who had another great game. Still we have to be winning these games to have any chance of a top 6 finish. We have dropped to many points already and will end up having to get wins against the top teams, something we havent done in a long time.

Just shows that the text commentary is misleading. Spurs were lucky to still be in the game at half-time, and almost all their chances were on the counterattack, and very few troubled Ben Foster at all. Watford could easily have had 3 or 4 with a little more composure and with a linesman who understands the offside rule.

Smith's miss was worse than Henderson's last week...and I actually thought generally along with most of the side he had a decent game.

Was Young offside?

Guess we have to say Spurs had their chances and maybe were better after the break though.

Decent game and performance which was nice after the last 3 efforts but still no wins!

Thought we actually passed the ball much better today and delt ok with their front 2 (Lennon looked lively from an England point of view).

Even thought Francis had a greatly improved display.

Maybe could've brought Priskin on late on but cannot complain too much.

huh - roob what are you on about - not only did the BBC say Spurs had the far better of it - but Sky Sports news also described how Spurs should have easily won

Jols, you're a fool, I bet you weren't even at the game, I was. By half time Spurs should have been at least two down or maybe it should have been 3-1. Second half Spurs were better, but in all had about 4 chances all of which were missed by Lennon. To be honest Watford were by far the better team in the first half and the second half was pretty even. Don't believe everything you read, especially from Sky Sports, which is one of the most inaccurate websites I've ever seen (that is unless they're covering Liverpool, United, Chelsea or Arsenal), when I clicked on the Watford vs Spurs match report on there yesterday it took me to the West Ham vs Blackburn preview! Very shoddy indeed.

Denied again by profligate finishing (Smudger being the unfortunate winner of this weeks "Sitter of the Week prize") and a linesman (no, he did not assist the referee at all) who does not understand the offside law or the spirit of the offside law. A complete muppet as was proven on the tv and not even worthy of debate.
Spurs had chances, sure, but lets be fair - Foster did what he is paid to do and nothing more extraordinary than that (although there was a touch of good fortune with the Lennon effort that he parried down into the ground and went over the bar) and I do not recall any open goals going begging at our end.

It's about time we got due credit that we are actually better than most either thought we'd be or want us to be. The one blip was at Arsenal last week when they didn't get out of second gear and we were stuck in neutral for the entire game.
We maybe winless, but that is not because we are a poor side - just unbelievably unlucky thus far - and the wins will come. We're already out of the relegation places (for this morning, anyway) and our luck will change.

Got to agree with the majority of previous posters....Watford were the better side over 90 mins but it was Spurs who created the better chances. How the game finished 0-0 I just don't know...certainly the Watford 'goal' was good and Foster produced some great blocks. Spurs finishing was poor...they had the majority of possession but did little with it. After effects of Weds for Spurs?........Perhaps but with 7 changes to the team that started against MK Dons it really shouldn't have been an issue. To sum up...as a Spurs fan I'm happy with the result but we will need to up our game against Brugge on Thursday.
