We all wondered when Rooney would find his scoring boots again. After a fantastic performance on the opening day against Fulham where he manged to score, Rooney had gone 11 games for club and country without a goal, a run he wanted to end as soon as possible.

The drought almost immediately ended for Wayne when he slammed the ball in off a great Michael Carrick pass inside 10 minutes. United made it 2 shortly after, Rooney again scoring with a calm and cool curling shot from just outside the area.

United dominated the early stages with Boltons chances coming few and far between. Of course, Ronneys drought ending first half brace was the first goals Bolton have conceded at home in the Premiership this season. United lead 2-0 at half time.

The second half saw Bolton start creating a few chances of their own, Ivan Campo seeing his shot parried by Van Der Sar. However today was all about United who made it three with Ronaldo slotting into an empty net after some great teamwork.

It got even better for United, Rooneys second hat-trick for the club since scoring on his Champions League debut for United in 2004 saw United wrap up a fourth and the win.

Wayne Rooney is well back to his best, final score Bolton 0 - 4 Manchester United.

Team list
Bolton - Jaaskelainen, Hunt, Faye, Meite, Ben Haim, Stelios, Campo, Speed, Diouf, Davies, Anelka.

Subs - Walker, Pedersen, Vaz Te, Ben Haim, Smith.

Man United - Van Der Sar, Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Saha.

Subs - Kuszczak, Heinze, Solkjaer, O'Shea, Fletcher.

To be honest I think real Utd fans will be happy with the performances so far. Such an improvement from last season. Visit the man utd blog at:

In response to Newendyke_united,
Great comment's about Carrick, i totally agree with you, im sick of hearing so called utd utd supporters moaning about carrick, it's no coincidence were playing some of the best football utd have played for many years with carrick and saha in our team, fergie left carrick out against arsenal and i honestly think we missed him! Hes getting better and better with each game, once people forget about the price tag which wasn't carrick's fault, im sure they'll agree what a great player he could become for man u!

that kieran lee looked good the other night in the carling cup. any other good young players coming thorugh for man u?

Yes we have some other good youngsters coming through - a lot of them are out on loan at the moment. Just to name a few:

Gerard Pique, (defender) - Real Zaragoza
Jonny Evans, Danny Simpson (defenders), Darren Gibson (central midfield), Frazier Campbell, (striker) - all at Royal Antwerp
Ben Foster (goalkeeper) - (Watford)
Guiseppe Rossi (striker) - Newcastle Utd
Lee Martin (left winger) and Phil Bardsley (defender) - both at Rangers

Watched these players a lot over the last two seasons and they're all outstanding prospects. All part of the reserve teams that won a total of 7 trophies over the last two seasons including defending and retaining the FAPL North Trophy. They also did the same with FAPL Trophy where the best in the North faces the best in the South. It wasn't just the fact that they won these trophies it was the way they played.

I expect some of these players to be knocking on the first team door come the end of their loan spells so roll on next summer!

Rooney looked fitter, and scored class goals. When he is in form we all know that he is world class. The problem is will he be allowed to play for England in his correct position. As for Utd, when they are on top they are hard to move they have willpower.

rooney is a world class player and it is great to see him score a hat trick after going so long without a goal
