Kirkland permanent Wigan deal

Premiership Liverpool Wigan
comment on the article

Chris Kirkland has signed permanently for Wigan on a three year deal.

How do Liverpool and Wigan fans feel about it?

He's had terrible injury problems, but if he can stay injury free, he could genuinely go on to take over from Paul Robinson as England's No 1.

Kirkland has got the potential to be one of the best keepers around.

To be fair to both clubs, every club makes signings that don't work out.

Enlgnad Number one, I don't know about that. Robinson is Quality. Divot aside he was fantastic for England against croatia. Made some great saves.

If he stays injury free I'm sure he will do well for Wigan, not an England 'keeper yet though. Everyone saw the clip of the second goal Robinson conceded against Croatia, but he really did have a good game apart from that and made some great saves. He may not be world class but Robinson is the best we've got.

I have always admired Cris Kirkland and during his time at Liverpool,I actually felt that he was better than Dudek in goal. Yes,should he remain injury free Kirkland can be the England no.1.

I think that if Kirkland stays clear of injury,he could push Robinson for the England jersey.Robinson is an excellent keeper, but Kirkland is just as good

I think he will prove to be a very good signing for Wigan as long as he stays fit, and it will do Robinson good to have some real competition in the England squad. It would be interesting to get a Liverpool supporters input, especially after Reina's recent erratic displays and Carson's less than impressive first few games at Charlton.

I don't think anyone at liverpool (including rafa) doubted his ability

we could never rely on him being fit and he never had enough consecutive matches to develop an understanding with the defense.

If you've got an employee who can never make it work, eventually you've got to let them go regardless of talent.

Now that Kirkland seems to be fit and more importantly, staying fit, I only wish that he was still on Liverpool's books.

He is a class keeper and yes I believe he's better than Robinson.

I would have liked to have seen him as 1st choice keeper at Liverpool and not Reina, irrelevant of the latter's poor recent spell.

In letting Kirkland go Liverpool have lost a great player and I wish him all the best at Wigan except when playing Liverpool - then I hope he has a stinker! winkeye

With Morientes we won the FA Cup and finished third. With Beattie Everton........managed to avoid relegation?

-----------------------
With Beattie we managed to finish 4th (above you) despite the fact your squad was worth about five time as much as ours and we had Bent and Kilbane playing! If you're goint to mention Beattie can I mention Heskey, Diouf, Diao, Cheyrou, Le Tallec, Biscan, Pongolle, Kirkland, Cisse. About £60m worth of 'talent' there!

Ridiculous move. I don't know what liverpool are doing. We paid 6m for him, he has proved to be great when not injured, yet even now that he seems injury free we are selling him. Does anyone know how much we are getting? We need him badly. What angers me so much is that if we didn't need him so badly, or think he would be worthwhile, we shouldn't have paid 6m for him. It's just so inconsistent.

Liverpool's transfer policy is absolutely shambolic. Rafa, to be honest, is a fool. Even when we won the champs league, he was a fool. I'm not a football manager, but even I could see that he should have had didi hamann in the starting 11. It was his fault we went 3-0 behind. He's just lucky that gerrard is such an awesome player. Rafa only deserves some credit for the champions league, he very nearly threw it away. He definitely doesn't deserve any credit at all for having won the final.

I actually wish Mourinho had come to liverpool instead of chelsea. He is a great manager. I'm not saying he doesn't whinge stupidly at times, but he's actually got some balls, and a brain. He's not as pathetic and useless as Rafa.
