NATHAN'S NIGHT-OUT GUIDE!

These are the places I recommend for nights out after each day's play in Adelaide:

DAY 1: The Church - 90c pints of beer, glasses of champagne, and wine from 9:30pm onwards. Located on Rundle Street.

DAY 2: Shennanigans - 50c beers all night long, and a tequilla shots happy 5 minutes! Located at the Marion Center (which is in the suburb of Marion).

DAY 3: The Grand - Fantastic night out with discounts. Located in Glenelg, on Jetty Road. Alternative, try the pubs and clubs at Henley Beach.

DAY 4: The Woolshed - Have a laugh on the mechanical bull whilst watching the highlights of the days play on the widescreen TV next to the pool table. Located on Hindley Street.

DAY 5: The Colonel Light - Chill out with some cockatails and a curry, before hitting the beer and pokies after 4 serious days of partying (and an England win!). Located in Light Square.

Best pubs in Adelaide, in my opinion are:

The Austral in Rundle Street
The Exeter in Rundle Street
Crown and Achor in Grenfell Street

Pre match drinks, you should check out the Cathderal, just near the ground or the magnificent British, a mere 5 minute walk towards Melbourne Street.

You should also check out the Barossa Valley. World class wineries, only just over an hour away. Or McLaren Vale or Clare Valley.

Take a drive down the Fleurieu Peninsula. There are some beautiful beaches like Aldinga & Moana, only 30 mins or so south of the city. Further down you have Carrickalinga, beautiful.

I would also suggest a trip to Goolwa, the mouth of the Murray and Victor Harbour.

Last 2 best kept secrets about South Australia are the Flinders Ranges and Kangaroo Island.

Have fun!

I'm from Adelaide (now in the UK) and recommend Adelaide Oval as a beautiful ground for watching the cricket. Great tradition and any vantage point is good, for visitors though just be aware the grassed hill infront of the scoreboard gets pretty wild as the day moves on.

If you're from the UK visiting, take a full day in the wine regions (McLaren Vale is only 30 minutes south and the Barossa / Clare only 1-1.5hr north) - they really are about the best in the world - just turn up and taste the range (free) at any one of dozens of wineries - I suggest days 4 or 5 of the test after the aussies have wrapped it up early (he he). If you do have longer, a couple of nights on kangaroo island or even a day trip to Victor Harbour (1 hour away) / Granite Island is a good way to see some wildlife. Clealand is a great native animal zoo in the hills too.

Most of the beaches are good and the weather is warm so go for a swim - Glenelg is the busiest (but a bit commercial and crowded).

Adelaide is pretty quiet most of the time, and not the most exciting city in the world - but it really does have literally hundreds of great restaurants. Walk down Rundle street, or especially Gouger street (both about 15 - 20 minutes walk from the oval), and pick one of them. Make sure you check out the central markets when on Gouger street as well.

Have a great time....and go the aussies smiley

Looks like McGrath's old man joke with the crowd may backfire on him. Whatever his performance at Brisbane suggested, the facts are that he's nowhere near the bowler he was over a whole series and England need to realise that. They also need to realise that Hayden and Martyn still can't make a score, that Gilchrist gives bunnies a bad name, that Lee doesn't take wickets - he purchases them, that the back-ups are there on the basis of being better than Gillespie (like who isn't ?) and that the team consists of one man and one man alone. Granted that man is Warne and a king of kings, but it's still the 1-man outfit that crawled thru Heathrow 15 months ago, tails firmly between legs and, no, they haven't got better since. Beating serial chokers SA and Bangladesh (oh and I almost forgot, the World XI) is no more than par for the course. Ten Average Joes and one legend is a team England should be knocking over without breaking sweat.

But you can't argue with facts mate and the fact is you lot got stuffed in the last test and will continue to be. What you said about Warne is doubly true about Flintoff. England without flintoff are nothing.

Oh dear ChiseledMag, wouldn't you just hate to get beaten by Ten Average Joes and one legend? and, surely, in order to be classed chokers, Bangladesh would have been expected to win, then didn't!?

For all visitors to the Beautiful City of Adelaide make sure you spend some time relaxing on the beach down at Glenelg, apart from the beach, there are also a few nice bars. Check out the Marina and the people that go with it....a great way to spend an hour or so with a cool Carlton or whatever takes your fancy. Enjoy but Go Aussie Go

4th Official...You might be the current holders of the urn. Congratulations for winning something after 20 odd years of trying. Unfortunately it's something you can't hold onto forever. Just like the Rugby World Cup which you will have to give over very soon. It's a shame that the sport that EVERYONE in this country seems to care most about (soccer) you guys are rubbish at as well...
