Lunatic taken over the asylum?

Leeds United

Dennis Wise at the leeds helm! Should we all laugh or cry. Given Mr Wise' disciplinary record on and off the pitch do we now have a lunatic running the lunacy that currently prevails at Elland Rd?

When wise was at Millwall they finished 10th if he manages to do the same with Leeds he will be some kind of messiah how low this Leeds team has sunk.

I am not happy with the Bates Wise combo might as well rename the club Cheleedsea and be done with it.

However beggars cant be choosers and like it or not we are where we are. I sincerely hope it works and Leeds return to where they belong and if they do i will be cheering as loud as anyone.

Never mind, look at the positive side.

You'll do very well in Div 1 next year.

Dennis has good pedigree there.

I think it shows the mindset of Leeds right now that they have appointed a scrapper for a manager to fight for their Championship survival, because I'll be blowed if Wisey has it in him to take the once mighty Leeds into Prem contention

WOW!

Lets face it guys, respect to Mr. Wise but has he got the players to do a job? I don't think he has at all! I've been a season ticket holder at Elland Road from the age of 15 so this is my 11th year now. In all that time I can honestly say that I have never seen a Leeds United team like this. Even in the late 80's before promotion, many people had heard of a fair few Leeds players. I live in Liverpool now and not many of my current Scouse mates have heard of any of the players!

I know times have been hard the last few years but thingss change. Look at Man United - dizzy heights of winning everything for a while and what? Then look at Chelsea. Who'd have thought that would ever become the richest club in the world?

We don't know what's around the corner people but I doubt that Mr. Wise will have much chance unless his good pal Bates starts to spend in a big way or finds us Mr. Abramovich II!

I'll tell you one thing though, Batesy should be looking into compensation from Footballers wife's - I think the whole story line was written about Leeds Leeds Leeds.

Marching on together

It's a puzzling appointment at best.
Bates was quoted as saying that it was "Not a popularity contest, but the right man for the right job".
So wheer does that leave Poyet? i cannot even believe he is a half decent assistant, Carver may not have been able to cut it as manager, but as an AM i suspect he is worth ten of Poyet.
Also, how quickly will Wise get the players to adhere to his style
of play? Thet can't mess around for 3-4 games, they need results and quick, especially with the busy xmas period not that far away.

People may change their attitude to his appointment if the results come(us footy fans are the most fickle) but if nothing changes i can only see the club plunging deeper into trouble and the voices of anger growing louder.

I think that all things considered, this is a good appointment for Leeds. Personally I wanted Curbishley, but he ruled himself out. The alternatives dont bare thinking about - Hoddle?? Bryan Robson??? As a player, DW was very underated, probably because he made his name at "kick and hope" Wimbledon. Yet he went on to captain Chelsea and win things with them.

As a manager he has been relatively successful - he got Millwall to 10th and a cup final on zero budget and has been an instant hit at Swindon. Again, he is more tactically aware than people give him credit for. All Leeds fans need to get behind him and Gus because if they dont, then Divison 1 may only be 7 months away!!!!

I'm willing to give anyone willing to manage Leeds a chance. Anyone old enough to remember the Wimbledon team of the eighties with Wise and Vinny Jones knows he'll never give up. Jones has offered his help to a club etched on his heart and tattooed on his body, I say bring him onboard and shake up the otherpayed players at the club and make them proud to wear the shirt. Come on Dennis, come on Leeds.
