Huddersfield Town - 4-1-4-1???

League One Huddersfield Town
comment on the article

I was at the game on Saturday and I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I know the record books will say that Town won 2-1, but I seriously have to question Peter Jacksons 4-1-4-1 tactics. It made for the most negative play I have seen since Wadsworth was in charge, we created absolutely nothing.

PJ justifies playing that way because it gets us three points - but I have to travel a fair way, and pay good money to watch Town - I expect to be entertained, not any of this "...sod the performance, we got 3 points, any old way will do...".

It was a big mistake not to revert to 4-4-2 at half time, Hudson and Collins were completely anonymous and one of them should have been replaced with Pawel Abbot or Andy Booth. We needced to take the game to Carlisle, but we had no chance of that playing Beckett on his own up front.

Make no bones about it, we got lucky on Saturday - and I have no reason to believe that Peter will ditch the system next Saturday at Port Vale - but its awful to watch.

The fans are definately voting with their feet - 10,800 were there (at least 1200 were Carlisle Fans, who were superb I might add), I can't see there being that many at the Brighton match a week on Saturday.

So what's to do - any ideas, or will we have to put up with this system all season long. We won't gain promotion (or any admirers) if we do.

I don't think this tactic will be Jacko's long term plan - we have generally played attacking (and often very attractive) football under Jacko. I just think he (quite rightly at the moment) thinks that we always look like conceding, and we're not going to win many games if we continue to ship goals. Hopefully defenders such as Clarke will return to the sort of form we know they can produce, and the need to bolster midfield will be reduced.

I hope the 4-1-4-1 gets abandoned soon too, though, it's not much fun.

what would you prefer a bad performance and a good result or a good performance and a bad result

at that moment in time we needed the 3 pointsto get us back into the promotion candidates were we belong

At the moment I would take 3 points with a crap performance.

Hopefully we will have a better second half to season and it doesn't take a lot to get into top 6.
We made the play-offs last season and didn't play well for 2 halves of ANY game.
