Everton 1 - 1 Manchester City

Micah Richards scored with virtually the last kick of the game to earn Manchester City a point at Everton.

Andrew Johnson's sixth goal of the season after 44 minutes looked to have given Everton a deserved victory.

But Richards stole on to Bernardo Corradi's flick in the fourth minute of injury time to equalise, just after the Georgios Samaras struck the woodwork.

Johnson was denied a second by a brilliant block from Richard Dunne and Nicky Weaver saved from Joleon Lescott.

What did you make of the match?

As an Everton fan, I have to say I was gutted at the end. The difference between 2nd and 5th in the league is massive, and now we have the international break. Just have to keep telling myself that we did that to a lot of teams in the past, should have been 2-0 up though long before injury time. Ho hum.

What a relief. A point away from home at last - about time. I thought we battled really well today but once Samaras had hit the post, I thought our chance had gone. Good to see Micah turn up in time again but shame about Joey's rump. He probably had an itch!

A hard-fought game from which both teams got what they deserved, a point each. The City players were obviously thrilled afterwards, as you could see by the way the kids in the side were celebrating. Barton came across to thank the City fans, asked the stewards if he could give his shirt away, then handed it to a fan rather than risk a melee. He was barracked by a large group of Everton fans who had also stayed on after the end and who had been baiting him throughout the game with obscene chants about his brother (they were ignored by the local police stood among them). He showed his backside to those fans briefly and now we read that those fans were "incensed", the police are investigating and the "FA must look into the incident with a ban a certainty". Lighten up; they got exactly what they deserved: the real answer is to jump on the people who come to matches to collectively shout continuous abuse at individuals (and City have their fair share). Throw a few of them out and the rest of us might be able to concentrate on the matches more.

All credit to City it was one of those matches. In the 2nd half we had opportunities to get a second and didn't, we all know in this league how that can bite you. I thought your best players by far were Dunne and Distan (spl) they were rocks at the back.

Disappointed about Moyes tactics at the end we just fell back into the box for the last 10 mins surrendered possession and asked you to score and that you did. This actually felt more like a defeat

Overall a good start to our season which could have been better. Saying Barton got some dreadful personal abuse by a large portion of the Goodidon crowd I think that although not the brightest of things to do, showing the top half of your backside, it is a little churlish of the fans to complain.

Anyway a break then Midds and Sheff Utd hopefully six points gained but as it is with football you never know.

a lot of so called fans seem to go the match to abuse the fooballers and then cry when any footballer does it back. i personally laughed at the barton incident while i was at the match and cannot believe fellow evertonians appear incensed at such schoolboy behaviour

Last season (or the previous one) at Goodison, Gary Neville received a red card and subsequent ban for 'kicking the ball at the fans'. Watching the replay, the fans were abusing him (as they were the Man united team througout the match) and in this instance, the ball went out of play and Gary went to take the throw in. The 'fans' refused to give him the ball. When he turned he back, a fan threw the ball at him, with greater force then his eventual tap at it towards the crowd. I have said in the past that the EPL and police are not doing enough in controlling crowd behaviour and are only begging for a return of the reign of hooligans in the stands.

As for Barton, while I was against police intervention on the pitch as in Ben Thatcher's case (contact sport), in this I think Barton should spend one night in the cooler for public indecency. Regardless if act was towards adult males opposing fans, families are also present and event was captured on TV and reported. Expect the club and FA to also fine him, but in this instance, if the police receive a complaint, they should act irregardless of club/Fa actions.

Everton could have, and should have, had the game wrapped up well before the end of the game. My wife and son are blue noses and they said that the longer the score remained at 1:0, City seemed to show more confidence that they could get a goal back. Everton on the other hand, seemed to be content on keeping the 1 goal lead.

Tough call.

We should have beaten Man Utd.

I was in the stands waving my St. David's cross cheering on Everton.
