Stan Collymore deluded?

Premiership Liverpool
by Les Willis (U5410866) 19 September 2006
comment on the article

Stan Collymore has been linked with moves to a number of clubs in Australia (Newcastle Jet's) being one of them. They're trying to ressurrect his career which stalled in 2001.

Anyway, the main point is that Collymore has suggested that he'd still be interested in playing football again for a Premiership club, as he believes he's still got what it takes at the highest level.
The fact that O'Neill is in charge of Villa now seems to have whetted Stan's appetite to get back into the game.
I can't believe that he actually thinks this could happen. Has he gone completely mad? He's 35 and hasn't played since 2001 when he retired! Collymore could have been one of the Worlds best, but is surely the epitome of wasted talent.

This is news to me.
If true, then seems like a desperate man unable to face reality. Why are his friends not steering him clear?

As a Southend supporter, it would be good if Stan got back into the game.

Even though he is 35 I think if he got fit he could do a job for a CCC league side.

Well he was linked with an Aussie club last week, but that seems to have died a death now.
The Australian League got a bit upset saying they don't want their league to become a retirement home for has beens!

Why is he aiming at the top end of the prem, at his best he would struggle to get in at villas current team.

Plus when he gets the money again he will start doggin down the chase again rather than concentrating on his game.

Breaking news!!! Stan Collymore has announced he will be entering the egg and spoon race at his old primary school on fete day. Collmore was quoted as saying ... ahem ... "I know I am still the best".

I can't realistically see any Premiership side signing Stan Collymore at 35, but if Teddy is still playing at 40 anything is possible.
