Ginger_Skin (U1896977) posted Sep 21, 2006 David Beckham should be in the October England Squad, not an automatic starter but his experience and ability is still useful to the squad. All thats changed from sven is a dropped beckham and gerrard out right. Big decision is Lamps on bench even for one game! 6 more caps for Beckham? Well if Jenas can get in the squad anything is possible!

limergoon (U1804712) posted Sep 21, 2006 I feel that Mclaren dropped him on a whim, knowing that the first games in charge were easily winnable for England, and that he could afford to, simply as a way of asserting his authority. Considering the somewhat dubious quality of a number of the fringe players in the squad, to leave beckham out seems, at best petty, and at worst, stupid. And yes, his Hello hogging antics do wreck my head, and i wish his wife would , well... 'go away' is one polite phrase..., but he is and remains, a formidable talent. Who else is going to cross a ball as well?

squidboy (U3364399) posted Sep 22, 2006 Beckham should definitely be in the squad. McClaren is in a great position because Becks wants to get to the magic 100 caps and will do anything and play anywhere to get there. So you've got a worldclass player who is willing to do anything for the team. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. And please, no one mention SWP again...the bloke isn't even playing anymore and has failed big time in his greedy ambitions. Good.

Lord Summerisle (U1761728) posted Sep 22, 2006 Let him be angry. But it'll be the measure of the man how he uses that anger. He can use it on the pitch and propel himself back into contention for a place in the squad, or he can use it in interviews and expect to be given a place back simply because his name is 'David Beckham'.

DwightRight4TopFlight (U5425681) posted Sep 23, 2006 Goofy2053 you must surely understand if one player takes all the free-kicks,corners and attacking set-plays then of cause theyll have more assists than others no matter how poor the success ratio. You say the strikers "feed" off his passes. When in all the years hes played where he wants for england has he ever provided a consistent level of service from open play?
