What is the best way to make a demo CD?

How many minutes? Is one mistake ok? Is CD format ok to post out or do people expect mixes over the internet now and if so how/which site?

Thanks

demo cd's are old hat with most labels.. most have an AIM address for sending them now..

pick the best 4 if you have a lot to choose from, you might not hear back. That's kinda how it goes with em though.

Thanks...

you say pick the best 4, do you mean best 4 tracks?

I have a 30 minute mix uploaded to send links out to. But don't know how long sendspace holds files for-do you know?

when you say DEMO , I'm assuming you produce / engineer.. not DJ... so 4 of your best unmixed tracks if you produce or a shortened version.. if ya a dj.. hhmm dunno enter 1x's comp if it's running again, but thats normally summertime

they have their AIM ready to receive files.. so if you post them a link they probably won't check it.

also sort out a myspace, some use that for A&R and add the people who interest you label wise etc. after.

Thanks again..

ooops..I am a DJ, I just meant mix CD.

I have a myspace but it is a bit old so will update it.

Stupid question-how do I send over AIM?
For example how would I send it to Fabio & Groovemrider?

There's a lot of issues with your question... best thing is to get your CD done and physically hand it to someone. That means getting to a club or an office. Meet them and tell them what you do and why it needs to be heard.

(and if there's any mistakes, go back in and fix em, no excuses)

*forget* myspace or the internet ok? Those things are just background, afterthoughts. Main thing is you, your style and your performance (as producer and DJ, they interweave)

GET OUT THERE! As they said in some book a few years back you'll learn more playing out at your mate's party (or a club of course) than years locked away in your bedroom.

PEACE.

my m.c. name is G-love, I produce music for group called GnB Which consists of myself and Lewie Blackburn. He is 17 years old and very much in to music like myself!
