Wassup peeps.

I know this is a that pops up every year. Heads always saying that UK rnb will finally blow etc etc. But after a mammoth homegrown sensations (check for yourself).....

www.bbc.co.uk/radio/...

..I really do feel it could be the year.

Artist like Corrine Bailey Rae, Kyra, EC, L Marie are all coming thru smashing the scene!!! I'm even thinking acts like Fund*mental 03 and Nathan, who many consider to be 'commercial' UK rnb artists ('low that foolishness, they are big), will really break thru on the national charts (playground by Fund*mental is SICK!)

What I want to know from you is do you feel it could be a big year for the UK Rnb scene? Who do you think will buss thru?

Holla at me and let me know!!

PEACE!

B

I think L Marie, Kyra, Drrn B and Adele Sande (our own Alicia Keys i guess) can all do something if given the oppertunity.
Nathan will hopefully blow up a bit too. Dunno if im feeling fundamental though so because of that they probably will be big lol.

Really not feeling that remix to be honest. I think the vocals just don't go with the production. Poor attempt if i'm totally truthful....each to their own though..

Now that i listened back, i think Kyra, Darren B And LMarie are the prospect ones. Kyra has beautiful voice but needs to train it? or is it the production that she needs to up somehow.
Great show!

I've never said I don't like Craig!!?? I'm a big fan of his and think he is one of the UK's best talents!!??? What I have said is that I really don't like his last album. And the remix in question has nothing to do with the fact that its craig. It's that I find it a poor remix. And that's not a cuss at craig, because it was Sway who remixed it. If you check what I said earlier on, I said I felt that the production did not fit the vocals, and that has nothing to do with Craig, seeing as it was Sway who remixed it.....

So please do not accuse me of saying the remix is poor just because its Craig. I don't judge music based on the artist. For example when Craig's recent album dropped I heavily played 'thief in the night' and 'take em off'....

Easy B,
I definately feel that now is the best time that there has been in long while for UK R&B to make a telling mark on UK music as a whole aswell as overseas. Obviously this not only down to the fact that there are so many more talented acts out there at the moment, but also because there are so many more avenues availible for the unsigned acts to pass through with. 1Xtra the biggest urban radio station out there with cats like DJ B doing there thing week in week out the sky is the limit!

Peace,
GSP

I know I’m bringing this topic back from the dead...

But 8 months into 2006 and the predictions of UK R&B music have failed to materialize...

Corraine bailey ray has undoubtedly made a mark on the British music scene, but in my honest and most humble opinion her singles are as much R&B as James blunt is.

In 2006 UK R&B is probably the strongest it has ever been at present with regards to artists.

The problem is the lack of available product. Yes give your tracks to 1xtra or kiss (doesnt matter which station) but nothing will come of it if you dont get your product out onto the streets and into stores for people to buy. Where are the promos? Where are the itune d/ls? Where are the general single releases? Where are the albums? Mixtapes with a cover your mate has photoshoped up and a handycam video on channel u will only get you so far!

L-Marie has done good with her mixtape series and they are good especially the latest one but I havent seen a single from her whether it be on wax or CD?

Darrn B was someone I was really loving at the begining of the year, but could I get hands on the track, fluck no!!!!

I hoping true tiger will get the promo right for NY becasue she has mass appeal and a brilliant voice. She could cross over IF her promo actually happens. I want more than a video on channel U!!!
