As you know, the ways in which you can talk to 1Xtra or with each other about the station have changed substantially since we launched these messageboards nearly 10 years ago.

Millions of you email, text and leave blog comments on our website every month discussing the music we play, answering questions and requesting shout outs. Increasingly you will have noticed that our presenters and programme teams hear from you via our pages on Facebook and in the last couple of years via our many Twitter accounts.

We’re always reviewing what we do at BBC Radio 1Xtra and because we want to make sure that your conversations and feedback are listened to we’ve decided to close these messageboards on 29/06/2010.
We still think forums are useful and we will continue to host them at Radio 1 for special events but for now the boards are signing off.
Thank you for all of your contributions. I’ll still be around to answer queries for the next few days about this..

In the meantime:
You can talk to us on Facebook here:
www.facebook.com/bbc...

And on Twitter here: www.twitter.com/1Xtra

Text us on: 88111

And contact each show and presenter directly by typing their names into our website:
www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra

Thanks,
Your host Laura-May

Hi Laura-May

Is There anyway we can keep the 1xtra Messageboards running at all?
As for many of us this is the only website that we can access from work and our jobs are dull at the best of times, but having access to the MessageBoards has allowed us to build an online community where we meet often during our working days.

Plus not everyone see's the appeal of facebook and twitter or such websites are not allowed at our places of work

Thanks
Rick

I'll second that. And such short notice as well. This is a tragedy.

Basically, you lot (BBC) kneecapped these message boards a while ago and now you're finally finishing us off, one quick bullet to the head........

It was kinda like watching your Great auntie slowly die over a number of years, she'd have her good days, but overall you knew it was coming.

Anyway, I got Mos's FB, Greeny you on Facebook??

Anyone else??

Hi guys,

Thanks for all of your feedback regarding the messageboards. To make things a little easier we will be keeping the boards open for the rest of this week and closing on Friday evening. This gives you time to exchange social networking details if you'd like to and arrange any alternative conversation spaces.

Thank you all,

Laura-May (your host)

some of you have jumped ship to H2G2, why don't the BBC support and promote another of their sites, all the rest of you are welcome to come over, you can even set up your own 1extra group and have all the interesting convos you used to have here
