English
champion Sam Bleakley put in a brilliant performance to finish second
at FCS Longboard Pro in France.
Bleakley,
from Sennen, was beaten in the final at Biarritz by Frenchman Ryan Hakman.
Bleakley,
who won all his heats up to the final, picked up 860 European tour points.
The
beaten semi-finalists were French pair Romain Mourain and Antoine Cardonnet.
Fellow Briton Danny Harris narrowly failed to make the last four losing
to Cardonnet in their quarter-final clash, while former European number
one Chris Griffiths went out to Portugal's Paulo Kidd and Maurin.
Welsh
junior champion Elliott Dudley also excelled at the contest before finishing
last behind Christophe Fagalde.
North
Devon's Ashley Braunton, Newquay's Lee Ryan, Gordon Blake, from Jersey,
Simon and Paul Jessery, Roy Major, Dave Wild, Ian Dixon, Craig Robinson,
Andy Jenkins Harry Trower, Ian Ellis, Daryl Nichol, Benjamin Keay and
Dan Harris also featured during the early stages of the ASP contest.
Meanwhile,
Hawaiian Bonga Perkins took the Biarritz Surf Festival World Longboard
Tour title in great style. Perkins scored a 9.5 and 8.0 point wave on
his way to defeating American Colin McPhillips in the final by 24.25pts
to 20.4.
McPhillips, the returning World Championship title holder, was left needing
a nine point ride with just seconds remaining after Perkins showed touches
of brilliance in the quality three to four feet waves at Cote des Basques.
