Peter
McNamara wants to see local people making the decisions
|
Peter McNamara
is the Devonport Regeneration Manager. He says that the whole project
is about local people making local decisions; "We're very keen
that Devonport residents are in charge of how the money will be spent,"
he says. "Some of the ideas that we've already had include a
homework resources pack for school children, an expansion of the Credit
Union, and an ambitious idea to build a traditional sailing ship in
South Yard which would provide jobs and become a tourist attraction
in the future."

|
Plans
for regeneration projects are being suggested by the residents
of Devonport
|
All the ideas will
be discussed by a focus group before the final ones are selected.
Today's launch aims to raise the profile of the project and to inform
local residents how they can get information on issues such as housing
and envinronment.
