The television star of prgrammes such as Callan and the Equaliser, who lives in the area, admits he's a fan of the basking shark. He'll be be joined by a nine metre inflatable of the fish at the launch of the Basking Shark Watch Scheme.

The fish is the second largest in the world and can measure up to 11m and weigh up to seven tonnes. Very little is known about basking sharks but experts fear they may be in decline.
