A
five-year-old boy from Devon has set off on a surprise holiday with
his family thanks to a children's charity.
Barney Agar from Newton Abbot is critically ill with cancer of the
kidneys but he dreams of becoming an explorer.
This week the Make-A-Wish Foundation sent Barney off on four-day West
Country safari adventure.
Just like on all good expeditions no-one really knows what might be
in store for this overland trip. Even Barney's family don't know what
discoveries will be around the corner.

But Barney knows
what's top of his wish list - animals. When he grows up he wants to
explore the Amazon rainforest.
"It's got lots of trees and all different sorts of animals and red-eyed
tree frogs. I'm not sure what else, Tapir, I think," said Barney.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation decided to leave clues hidden at each location
for Barney to find and solve before he could move on to the next phase
of his adventure.
"Barney is an amazing little man who is enthusiastic to explore
the world," said Rory Vance, South West regional executive for
Make-A-Wish.
"He is a walking encyclopaedia about animals and dinosaurs and
it was fantastic to give Barney a taste of what's out there waiting
to be explored."

Kitted out with
a T-shirt and rucksack sporting a picture drawn by Barney himself,
the family's adventure began at the Weymouth Sea Life Park.
Make-A-Wish Foundation is the largest wish-granting organisation in
the world. Currently it grants a wish every day to children with life-threatening
illnesses. |
