Andromeda
from Dawlish
Andromeda have now disbanded. Many of the members now play in a band called
Trimorphous who also appear here on Devon Demos. Click HERE
to find out more.
Andromeda...isn't
that a galaxy somewhere?
Yes! We took the name from a book about space. It was completely by chance!
We found the name Andromeda - the name of a galaxy - and thought it suited
our sound.
Who's
who and how did you meet?
Joe Ings, Chubs and Max Welsman met at the age of three at playgroup!
They formed a band and met Amy McGill in secondary school when they were
14.
Joe and Amy are the intellectual ones, Chubs is talkative and Max the
quiet one. Being musicians we love arts but have no time for sport - or
any physical exercise for that matter (except, that is, for dancing like
mad on stage!)
Tell
us about "Walking In A Straight Line"....
"Walking IN A Straight Line" was written by Joe when he was
staying in London without his guitar! He wrote the whole thing from the
top of his head. It's our first song with dance influences (check out
the middle eight bars of Drum n Bass)
Describe
your music in three words.....
Ambient, Powerful, Original
You're
all still very young, what does the future hold?
We want to continue working hard; gigging, songwriting, recording and
getting publicity until hopefully one day we get discovered. We're very
ambitious.
And
if the ambitions pay off..?
We'll try not to let it get to our heads. Arrogance can be the downfall
of many a good band - see Oasis!
It would be nice to play festivals and huge venues though, as well as
to make brilliantly produced albums. It will be nice not to be bossed
around so much!
What's
the best and worst thing about Devon?
Exeter is a beautiful city with good live music venues and pubs such as
The Cavern and The Fizgig. The worst is the lack of interest from record
companies in the Devon music scene.
Whose records do you have in your collection?
Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Squarepusher, Leftfield, Massive Attack,
Rico, Red Snapper, Incubus, Aphex Twin and millions of others - we have
a very wide taste.
