Meadfoot Beach

Information about Meadfoot Beach in Torquay - one of Devon's Blue Flag beaches.

Meadfoot is a small shingle beach in the lovely Wellswood area of Torquay surrounded by spectacular cliffs and with Lincombe Woods behind.

It has canoeing, paddleboats, café/restaurant, disabled visitors' facilities, beach huts, deckchair/pedallo hire, a slipway, lost child centre, and first aid. Most of these facilities are seasonal.

This beach is used mainly by locals and visitors who prefer a quieter environment.

There is a promenade which is split-level and backs onto a tree-covered hillside.

The impressive Osborne Hotel building - built in a crescent shape - overlooks the beach and has a restaurant and bistro.

Limited parking is available on the street and there's also two small car parks at either end of the beach.

Meadfoot is about just over a mile from Torquay harbourside.

How to get to Meadfoot: From Torquay harbour, take the main road to Babbacombe. Take a right hand turn just 100 yards from the harbour and this takes you to the beach.
