Scaramoose

Scaramoose - bluesy, rocky and funky

Scaramoose

Scaramoose are a three-piece group from Plymouth and Torbay. Here, they audition one of their songs, Message.

Q: Who's in Scaramoose?
A: We are John Gardner (vocals and guitar) from Torbay, Clive Wade (bass) from Plymouth, and John Eschbaecher (drums) from Plymouth.

Q: What is the band's history?
A: Scaramoose (originally The Subterraneans) was formed in 2005, with the meeting of John and Clive. They found a common ground in a mixture of styles, including acoustic, blues, rock, funk, and world. During their first recording session, they discovered John, and the band was complete. The group has spread their sound across the country, with a series of tours.

Q: Which three words best describe your music?
A: Refreshing, easy listening, tuneful.

Q: Whose records do you have in your collections?
A: Anything from Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, and The John Butler Trio, to Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix, and BB King.

Q: Which track are you auditioning here?
A: The track is called Message. The riff was originally written for a conventional guitar, however we now play the song with a slide Lapsteel. It's an extremely basic song written with a strong melody line designed to be smooth and laid back, but with enough power to reach the subtle rockers!

Q: Complete the sentence: "When we become famous..."
A: "...Everyone who helped us there will be rewarded for their efforts."

Q In your own words...go on, sell yourself!
A: Scaramoose are a hard working, laid back trio with an amazingly fresh sound.
