A South Devon band has won a competition to support Teignmouth rockers Muse at their Eden sessions gig on 22nd August. Hey Molly saw off more than 80 unsigned acts and bands from across the South West.

The competition was held by the Eden Project, arts-based charity The Helen Foundation, and Muse themselves. Hey Molly aren't the only South Devon band who'll be supporting Muse at Eden. Paignton-based trio Nixon and the Burn are also playing before the main act comes onto the stage. It's an amazing chance for Hey Molly to play to a huge audience at the sell-out show of 5,500. The four members are Jordan West, Ollie Irwin, Matt Key and Rob Perry. Formed in 2004, the members are from Kingskerswell, Newton Abbot, Paignton and Teignmouth.

Renowned for their energetic live performances, their repertoire comprises catchy rock 'n' roll tunes tinged with blues, punk and the odd bit of ska. Jordan, who's lead guitarist and vocalist, said: "We're totally stoked at the news. This is a dream come true for us. "We were losing sleep in the run up to the announcement but now we're all over the moon, especially our drummer Rob who is a massive Muse fan." BBC Devon will be at the Eden Sessions gig, so come back here for a review and photo gallery. And check out our Devon Demos section, which showcases unsigned bands from across the county. |
