Who's On Air?
Weekdays 5am - 6am
Danny's early show provides a lively start to weekdays on BBC Radio Devon, with your first look at the news, great music from the last five decades and a few things to get you thinking too.
You may be surprised to hear just how many people are listening to the radio at 5am but Danny hopes to provide them all with a mix of music, news and fun, in the Crack-of-Dawn Show.
"I'm constantly amazed that people join in at that hour", admitted Danny. "I know lots of folk are up and about because of work commitments and what-have-you, but I'd have thought they had enough on their plate without contacting some bloke on the radio too!"
The BBC's reliable information service, including the morning's news and weather forecast, features in Danny's programme.
Plus, listeners to BBC Radio Devon's countywide breakfast show with Matt Woodley will also hear Danny reading the sports news.
"I'm rubbish at playing sport, so I won't be winning any medals!" he said, "but talking about it is the next best thing.
"Particularly when we get to follow the fortunes of people like Plymouth's young diving sensation, Tom Daley, or Exeter swimmer Liam Tancock.
"It's a thrill and a privilege to be involved in so many programmes," said Danny.
Just don't remind him about the 3.30am alarm call!
Danny's got his early alarm call booked!
When not rubbing sleep from his eyes, Danny also works on faith and ethics material for the radio station and this website.
He produces BBC Radio Devon's weekly Sunday Service. You can hear the latest edition via the listen again section on our home page.
In March 2007, Danny visited The Gambia to explore how Britain continues to influence her former colonials in West Africa.
There's more about the trip via the link in the top right-hand corner of this page, and a chance to hear his documentary, Them And Us.
He has also produced live recordings such as the Christmas service and a Remembrance Sunday service.
"A choir boy never quite grows up," said Danny.
