Nest box videos

In the Spring of 2006, BBC South West's Inside Out programme installed a number of nest boxes in the grounds of the BBC's Plymouth studios. 

Each nest box was equipped with a mini video which started recording whenever it detected motion inside the box.

Over several months the nest box camera followed a pair of blue tits as they raised a brood of chicks.

The camera recorded video footage right from the start of nest building, through to just a few days before the chicks ventured out into the wider world.
